When to tell

Hi pregnant fellow moms!

I'm Ciska, 35 years old, and I have two kids, a boy and a girl, aged 7 and 11. I'm divorced and have been in a new relationship for a while now; we live together as a family of four.

I'm currently 11 weeks and 5 days pregnant, but only my in-laws know about our pregnancy.

Here's my question:

When do you tell your kids that they're getting a brother or sister?
When do you tell your siblings and other family members?

    Hi Ciska...

    Congrats on your pregnancy! I think it's different for everyone! Tell them when you feel ready. I'm 10 weeks pregnant now and most people already know. I have a 6-year-old son and a 1.5-year-old daughter.
    My son already asked at 6 weeks. He kept saying, "Mom, you have a baby. I can see it in your belly." We already knew... but I didn't want to tell anyone yet. He kept asking. As if he felt it. I did a test with him together... so it becomes a special moment for him. That was super special. We've heard the heartbeat twice already and hope everything is going well. Even if things don't go as planned, he should know why mom is sad.

    Thank you so much! That's so sweet of you! I'm really rooting for you! I hope you have a beautiful pregnancy too!
    We're having another ultrasound on Thursday... my belly is growing... so I guess the little one is too! It's still quite nerve-wracking. But sharing this moment with my son was really special! I also explained to him that sometimes a baby isn't strong enough and things can go wrong. Unfortunately, you know how that feels! Strength, hugs.

    Oh girl, I'm really so happy for you guys..
    I really hope your baby stays put and grows...
    I wish it for you.. Yeah girl.. lots of sadness but being able to give them a place every now and then helps a bit, but I also have a lovely little doll that I can enjoy...

    It's already morning of week 13, and since Monday my kids have known and are super excited about it.
    My sisters-in-law also know, and they think it's absolutely wonderful.

    Now just enjoying the moment.
