Joke
Hi, I'm Joke, an 18-year-old girl.
I'm now 6 months pregnant and very happy about my first baby.
My ex-boyfriend has chosen not to have anything to do with me or our child.
I was wondering if there's something like a document I can have him sign stating that he doesn't acknowledge the child, so he can't claim the child later on?
Thanks in advance!

Anyway, the mother has to give permission for the father to legally acknowledge the child. If you don't want that, it won't happen. Your ex would have to sort that out in court. He can't just claim it because you're the mother and you're not married. However, you can legally force him to pay child support. But that's also quite a legal circus you'd have to go through. Then the "father" has obligations but no rights.

I do think, though, that your child has the right to know who their biological father is, regardless of whether there's any contact or not. But that's just my personal opinion.
