Pregnant & high blood pressure

Hi everyone,

I'm now 10 weeks pregnant with our second baby. I'd love to know if there are any other ladies with high blood pressure this early in pregnancy... During my first pregnancy, I was admitted to the hospital and put on strict bed rest. Our baby was also born early and was a bit small... What are your experiences? Do you have any tips?

Love, Lexy

    Hi Lexy,

My best friend had exactly the same as you. With the first pregnancy, she also had to rest early on and the baby was born very early. With the second one, she also got high blood pressure quite quickly, but it turned out to be much less severe in the end. In the end, she was able to carry the pregnancy to term. According to her gynecologist, it's quite common for the second pregnancy to be less intense because the body 'already knows' what to do.

I think it's really important that you take good care of yourself, especially your liver and kidneys, etc. So drink lots of water, eat healthily, and don't overdo it.

    Good luck!

It's been 4 weeks already and I've been on the pills for 4 days now, and I have to rest...
Last Friday I even had to lie on the monitor... Now I have to go for check-ups twice a week... Back on Friday, if my blood pressure doesn't drop, I'll be put on complete rest at the hospital... So frustrating!

Oh, that’s really tough, especially since you already have one at home...
I hope your blood pressure goes back down soon so you can just stay at home (in peace) and finish your pregnancy...

I had it with my first too, but now I’m 35 weeks and luckily haven’t had high blood pressure.
Now I’ve got gestational diabetes, which almost got me hospitalized because the baby wasn’t growing well, but luckily everything turned out fine...
