I don't want to be pregnant.

Hi,

I’m 8w1d pregnant today. The pregnancy wasn’t planned though; I missed one pill, took it too late afterwards, and it was immediately effective.

Even though I have a good relationship and the means to raise a child, I don’t want this baby. I’ve never had a desire for children, and I can even say that I don’t think it’s responsible to have kids in these times. I’m also very attached to my freedom; I’ve been traveling the whole world for years to work on projects. Something I could never give up or want to give up.
My boyfriend wants it though. Even though it wasn’t meant to be pregnant, he is very happy that he’s going to have a child with me.

We talked a lot at first about keeping it or getting rid of it. My first idea was an abortion, but on the other hand, I found that difficult. I didn’t take my pill properly, didn’t get a MAP, so I shouldn’t run away from my responsibility. I also live with a huge 'everything happens for a reason' mindset and I like my boyfriend. So I tried to convince myself that keeping it is the right thing to do.

After a while, I realized that was just an illusion, that I couldn’t keep convincing myself.

I also have a heavy history of sexual abuse, so examinations are not easy for me. But abortion is difficult for that reason too. I’m now too late for an abortion pill, and a curettage simply can’t work for me. It’s not a matter of just 'getting over it' because it’s not that simple.
How do I think about being able to bring a child into the world? At least not very responsibly, and I’m ashamed of that. I’m not capable of doing one internal examination, and a natural birth won’t work either. I’m capable of locking myself up somewhere and doing it alone, it’s that deep.

Yesterday we had an appointment with the gynecologist. Externally we didn’t get clear images, internally it didn’t work. But we did hear the little heart. I hoped it would help with my feelings, but it didn’t. My boyfriend was happy, I felt nothing, no emotion at all.

Except for my boyfriend, no one knows about my pregnancy. As long as I can’t accept it, I can’t get it out of my mouth. I’m ashamed of my pregnancy and every congrats would hurt me.
He would like to tell this weekend, I wish this whole thing was a nightmare. I don’t know what to do right now.
I can’t talk to anyone about my real feelings because they are anything but appropriate. Although my boyfriend knows them, and it really hurts him that I have these feelings.

An abortion would really be the solution for me, but I’m not capable of it. But secretly also not capable of the examinations that come with a pregnancy. Everything is so deep. Even sex is very difficult for me, if anyone would find that contradictory.

Can someone help me? Someone who doesn’t have a big need to rub in my face that I’m a scandalous person. For me this is a big problem and I’m looking for a way to process this and to deal with it. I also know I’m wrong. I’m ashamed of my feelings.

Greetings

    Hi

    What a situation...

If I were you, I'd go talk to your GP. Maybe it's best to do this on your own, without your boyfriend. This is to avoid being influenced by his feelings, and just to get everything clear for yourself.
    Just to discuss everything;
How does an abortion work, what happens, but also what happens if I keep the baby?
How often will internal examinations be necessary?
Because whatever you choose, abortion or keeping it, you'll eventually have to 'bare your bottom', literally.. internal exams are necessary for both anyway. An abortion can even be done under anesthesia, so you won't feel a thing.

    Good luck with everything!

Well, you're really responsible for it yourself! Sorry if that sounds harsh, but you should've thought about the possibility of this happening back then. If you really didn't want it to happen, I think you should've been extra careful. Good luck with everything.

I'm sorry, I don't have a solution for you, but I want to wish you lots of strength for the choice you're making too.

I have a friend who also can't have internal exams or give birth normally due to sexual abuse.
    She has a partner. Fortunately.
But sex is really not possible for her. They both want a child, but unfortunately, she has to suffer severe pain for it.

I'm not going to kick you while you're down with words saying you're wrong or anything like that.
You were on the pill, so you knew what you were getting into.
And it happens to every woman sometimes that she forgets the pill.
Unfortunately, you're one of the unlucky ones who is extremely fertile.

I hope that, for your sake, you can make the right choice.
    Lots of success and strength.

Oh my, what a story.. I don't have a solution for you, but maybe it's wise to seek professional help for your issues in the sexual area or regarding the discomfort from internal examinations, alongside your decision about whether or not to have a child.
Everyone forgets to take the pill once in a while..
I wish you lots of strength and I hope there's a solution that makes you feel comfortable!

hi anon first of all no one should judge you! you don't have to see your pregnancy as something dirty darling it's a gift you're getting i think that because of your sexual abuse you've always been on the run by constantly traveling you've always run away just to not have to think about what happened and now with a little miracle on the way you can't run away anymore have you ever gotten help regarding that abuse? if not i'd definitely do that darling and through the help you so desperately need you'll realize that you're going to be a wonderful mom who can give all her love to her little miracle but i advise you to seek help for yourself don't keep all your pain inside darling

    What a heavy story!
    How are you doing now?
    I’d say: bring it here
We’re registered as foster parents. Have you thought about that already?
I understand that then you’d still have to face all the pregnancy tests..
but maybe you can see it as ‘giving life and still being a mother’. Because with foster care, it’s not us but always you who have the final say about your child. The child will carry your last name and will always belong to you.
Tough stuff! Wishing you lots of success and strength!

How things are going... Gosh... I'm now 36w1d and I'm utterly miserable. Every day is one day closer to the birth, which I dread immensely. Up until now, I haven't been able to have any internal examinations done, even if they were for our health. I feel really bad about that, but everything is so deep.

Since late August/early September, I've accepted the baby. Until mid-November... Since then, I've realized that I actually still don't want a child. I will take care of her, love her, and take responsibility, but I don't believe I'll ever be 100% happy with it. Recently, I was sitting in the hospital waiting room and two women who had just given birth walked by. I had to cry, and everything in my body screamed "I DON'T WANT A CHILD." I can't talk to anyone about it because my feelings seem inappropriate.

My relationship is also over. He physically abused me three times severely (two of which required emergency care and one lasted almost a week) and when I was 16 weeks pregnant, I caught him with another woman in my own house. Since then, I'm done with him. Meanwhile, he has another partner, with a child, and has been making my life miserable for months. Everything he does is to hurt me.

I secretly hope that the baby will be stillborn so that she doesn't have to go through all the misery with the father. Because he already indicated that he wants to hurt me and will do everything possible to gain as many rights as possible. Maybe that's partly why I can't accept the baby, because I want to protect her.

    @anoniem,

What a story. I understand that your boyfriend abused you and cheated on you, which is absolutely terrible; there are no words for it... Deep down, I hope your baby will give you lots of love and that you'll give it back to them in return. But reading between the lines, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. Have you thought about adoption or maybe placing the child with parents who are involuntarily childless? Honestly, I hope you find the strength to love the baby with all your heart... Good luck, and I wish you lots of love and strength.

P.S. I think that father has already forfeited all his rights. You can surely prove in court that he has been violent towards you on multiple occasions...

Oh my, what a heavy story. Have you considered other options, like mavanmi said, adoption or something else? It would be really tough for both you and your child if you felt for the rest of your life that it shouldn't have happened.

Hey anon, I was wondering how you're doing now, dear. How do you feel about your pregnancy now? I feel your pain, dear, and I know how hard it must be for you. I wish I could give you a big hug. Hopefully, you have family around you to support you. Lots of love.

When I'm doubting myself, I go to a sort of feeling-based vibe and read forums where women express what they're feeling to see if I'm still 100% on track or completely off base with my train of thought. So far, everything I'm experiencing is normal; it's just that, in my eyes, it's such a huge effort. I've worked so hard to be where I am now, and now with another little one on the way, I wonder how in the world I'm going to survive this.

I'm in a phase of wanting to work hard and finally realize my dreams. I finally understand things I never understood before, and I already have a beautiful three-year-old little one. But this new pregnancy with my current boyfriend needs to be over soon. All the ailments, the fatigue, and I have to prove myself extra because I have severe asthma. With this pregnancy, I feel completely like a zero.

While I try to see the positive in things and look for them, I end up just completely drained and listless. These sleepless nights make me grumpy, and I just want no one in my aura for a bit.

Oh well, I'm almost there. Hopefully, I can find some motivation somewhere not to give up. It's hard. I didn't have the heart to wait it out or have it terminated; I loved her from the moment I knew she was in my womb. Ultimately, love only works where it can, not with everything.

Good luck to everyone. I hope I'm not the only one thinking this way.

I regularly read a post here from a couple who can't have children and are looking for a surrogate mother. I don't know if this falls within your considerations to give up your baby?
I'm just mentioning it, I'll see if I can find the post again.

I thought I saw something about trying to conceive, baby wish on page 2

I guess you've already given birth by now?
    How are you doing now?
    Xx

I really want a baby and can't conceive the natural way. Really, how strong you are! I sometimes wondered how awful it would be if a baby was left at my door as a foundling. So your feelings aren't so crazy, Rachel. Has anyone ever needed help or knows about adoption? Hope you think it through well and think of women like me. With love, G.

    Hi.

I don't know what date this topic is from, but I almost shed tears reading your story. That's so intense. I don't know what to advise. The adoption offer seemed like a really good solution to me, but then you're still stuck with all the checks and ultimately the birth, and in the end, it doesn't really help you at all, except that you make someone else very happy.

I find it hard to say what I think. On the one hand, I think you should go to therapy for what you've been through, and you'll naturally bond with the baby in your belly. But on the other hand, what if that doesn't happen? Taking care of a baby is hard, and if you don't really want it... Didn't your friend know beforehand that you didn't want kids? Since he's so happy about it now.

My sister also has absolutely no desire for children. She doesn't understand why I get so worked up about it. And I don't understand her either.

Sending lots of strength. Big hug x

I had unprotected sex once with someone. No condom, but he didn't actually fully penetrate my vagina. My labia were exposed, and he just ejaculated on the floor. But I'm really scared, I don't want to get pregnant. What should I do? Please help me. Thanks.

Dear topic starter, how are you doing now and what have you decided??
  18. Saartje1993 #19

If you don't want to keep the baby yourself, but you're too far along for an abortion, is adoption also an option?
  19. Roos Guest #20

How are you doing now, topic starter? What a heavy story! I'm with you.
