Experience with hip dysplasia?

Mascha
My daughter is 7 weeks old. Next week they're going to do an ultrasound on her hips because the doctor suspects hip dysplasia.
Does anyone here have experience with this?

    Hi Mascha,

I don't have any experience with this, but I wish you all lots of strength and success. May I ask how you found out that your little girl might have hip dysplasia?

    Thank you so much.
At the 6-week check-up, the pediatrician noticed that the hips weren’t symmetrical.
Today I got the results of the ultrasound from yesterday. The left hip is fine. The right one isn’t fully developed yet. In about 6 weeks, there will be another ultrasound to see if it improves on its own or if they need to start treatment.

    Hi Mascha,
Our midwife suggested making an appointment for our daughter at the hospital, mainly as a precaution because my sister used to wear a hip abduction brace when she was younger. It turned out she had a mild hip dysplasia on both sides. She got a brace (started in May, when she was 4 months old). The brace needs to be worn 23 hours a day, except during diaper changes and bathing. So she's been wearing it for about a month now. She doesn't seem to have any discomfort from it. Probably after 3 months she can take it off during the day, but then still wear it only at night for another 3 months. It's more inconvenient for us than for her. Also practically a bit tricky with things like breastfeeding, holding her on the lap, how to carry her, etc.
    Hope this helps you out.

    Hi Ellen,
    Thanks for your reply.
End of this month we have a new ultrasound and then right after that we'll get the results. Hopefully the right hip will be okay too.
I think we're actually more worried than she is.
    We'll keep hoping.
