My employer keeps calling during my leave.

Hi everyone,

I’m curious how you all feel about this. I’m now 39 weeks pregnant (so on maternity leave) and get contacted by my employer at least three times a week with work-related questions. Sometimes I just don’t answer the phone, but then they leave a voicemail and I still feel a bit guilty afterward. So I end up calling them anyway.

Other times they email me something I feel like I “have” to check. I think I should be clearer about boundaries, but it’s hard because I don’t have a permanent contract yet and I don’t want to disappoint anyone.

In my head, I’m still constantly thinking about work, and that’s really frustrating me.

Has anyone here experienced this? Maybe you have some tips?

If they only have your cell number, just turn off your cell phone. But do call your employer first and let them know that you'd like to focus on your pregnancy and then fully on the baby. You're on leave, so your employer shouldn't be contacting you three times a week.

    Wishing you lots of success!

Your employer isn't even allowed to contact you during your maternity leave... You're on leave! And for good reason!!

Ridiculous!!!!! He needs to stop this. Just be honest, okay. This really can't go on.

You don't mean that? I'll have to set some boundaries here, after all, you're on leave for a reason!

My work phone goes off during my leave. And on my private phone, they don't want me to be called...
