I know that you have the best chance of getting pregnant in the first 4 days after ovulation. I also had a hard time getting pregnant myself, and the first time it took 1.5 years before we went to a gynecologist. Now, for the second time, after half a year, we were referred to a fertility clinic, where I found out I had PCOS. After stopping the pill, I had a very irregular cycle. Ovulation usually occurs about 2 weeks after your period. Maybe you should contact your GP... after 1.5 years, that's definitely okay. S6

Hi d.c.b. Thanks so much for your advice! I’m going to try it this month: the first four days after my ovulation. I’ve been doing it wrong all this time because I didn’t know you could still get pregnant in those first four days after ovulation. I always did it three days before ovulation, without any effect. So, thanks a lot! I’m going to try this right away this month. I’ll give myself until February, and if it still doesn’t work out, I’ll go to the GP. Best wishes, Sharona

No need to thank me... I hope it works out for you, by the way (you're already fertile 2 days before ovulation ) s6

    Hi ladies,

I think you have a better chance if you have sex around ovulation. The egg is only fertile for a few hours after ovulation. After that, it's no longer worth it. Having sex three days before and one day after ovulation gives you the best chance. The hardest part is figuring out when you ovulate. Sharon, are you using ovulation tests? How long are your cycles?

    Sophia

Hi Sophia, I always have a very regular 28-day cycle, but this month for the first time it was 29 days. I'm now doing ovulation tests for the first time; I bought them on Friday. It wasn't very smart of me to test on day 7 of my cycle already, but I felt a kind of pain and thought it was ovulation pain, so I did 1 test. Now there was a line on it.

test the control line was a thick pink line and the test line was dark purple but a thinner line than the control line now it says in the instructions that if the test line is darker than the control line or equally dark as the control line that it is then positive and thus the ovulation comes and if the test line is lighter than the control line the ovulation has not yet come even if the test line does not appear yet but I have a question now how can the test line now be purple and the control

pink line? even if the test line is thinner, it's darker than the control line which is pink, but that wouldn't make sense because I can't be close to my ovulation on day 7 of my cycle? greetings sharona thanks again for your message

    Hi Sharona,

Which brand of ovulation tests are you using? Have you already gone to the GP for tests, or do you want to try on your own for now? I'll send you a detailed message tonight about my experience with ovulation tests. I have to go to work now. But the best thing you can do next week is to have sex every day. That way you won't miss your ovulation.

    Talk soon,
    Sophia

Hi Sophia, I’ve been using the Predictor ovulation tests. Today I did another test, and yesterday the test line was purple, while now it’s pink with a very thick, bold line. It looks almost as pink as the control line, and the line is equally thick. I find it strange if it’s already positive because I’m only on day 8. Thanks for your message. We’re only going to see the GP when it’s with...

The ovulation tests aren't working out. Greetings, Sharona

Now I'm just thinking about how weird it is that he's already so clear on day 8.

    Hi Sharona,

I’ve had experience with two brands of ovulation tests - Kruidvat and Clear Blue. There are a few photos on my profile of my ovulation tests.
Kruidvat uses lines, Clear Blue uses a smiley. The latter is clearer because you don’t have to compare the thickness and color of the lines. You either have a smiley or you don’t. So this is a recommendation.
I also find it strange that your test is already clearly positive on day 7-8. Lutein hormone is always present in the blood, but less than before ovulation. So you should have a line now, but less clear than the control.
If you have a regular cycle of 28 days, then your ovulation is around day 14-18. Then you could have sex every day between day 10 and 20. Then you’re good.
Maybe it’s useful to have your partner’s sperm examined. Because you’ve been trying for longer and your cycle is regular. He can request a semen analysis from his GP.
Good luck with the ovulation tests and hope it’s successful soon!

    Best,
    Sophia

Hi Sophia, thanks for your explanation and your time. So you also think it's weird that I already have such a thick, clear pink line? I might buy the digital one with the face. But now I'm wondering, does this match up with the test? I always have a cycle of 28 or 29 days. Greetings, Sharona

When you're just starting to test, shouldn't the line be faint and not such a thick, dark pink line? I'm not sure how to interpret this. Sophia, on which day did you get such a clear line?
    Greetings, Sharona

I forgot to mention that my boyfriend has a son from his previous marriage, so I guess he's fertile. Greetings, Sharona

Sharona, I also think it's weird that you got a positive ovulation test so early. I think that test isn't really clear to use. But that's just your first round testing for ovulation. Keep testing for a few months, maybe you'll get more clarity. If you want to buy a digital Clear Blue, those can be ordered cheaper online.
That's good news that your partner is fertile.
    I hope you succeed soon!
P.S. if you want, you can create a profile here and put pictures of your tests on it. Then I and other girls can look at them and maybe give better advice.

Usually, it's also true that the more you're busy thinking 'I want to get pregnant, we need to have sex now because then we'll get pregnant and whatever else,' the less likely you are to conceive. Several friends of mine took years to get pregnant, and just around the time they decided to stop focusing on it so intensely, they got pregnant. Maybe you're so preoccupied with it that it's actually making it harder for you both.

They clearly told us how, what, and when at the fertility clinic. And they really said it still counted if it was 3 or 4 days after, and that was true. We were pregnant, so I'll leave the rest in the middle. For us, it worked out!!

Had actually 4 days after my ovulation still 2 clear lines
