Pelvic pain - maternity belt???

Hi everyone,

I'm expecting my second baby and almost 14 weeks pregnant. I'm already having incredible pain in my hips, and lower back too, but the hips are taking over. I had some trouble with that during my first pregnancy as well, so much that I couldn't even walk, but it came and went, so I didn't really do anything about it. I heard that the maternity belt from Thuiszorgwinkel can bring relief. Are there any women here with experience using it? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Greetings!

    Hi Appelsien,
Have you tried physiotherapy yet? I’ve found it really helpful. Around 20 weeks, I had pelvic pain and went to a specialized physio. They managed to take the sharp pain away. I was also born with a hip issue, and now I’m doing physio for my hips. The muscles around my hips are overworked, and they’re being massaged now. It’s quite painful (feels like bruising). But I’m hoping to make it through the rest of my pregnancy with this. I’m taking lots of rest and trying to manage without a maternity belt first, since it can make your muscles/ligaments even looser.

I’ve got a proper hip belt now, and it does help, but the pain isn’t gone. A baby belt didn’t give enough support. I’m going to the OB-GYN on Dec 9th, so I’m curious what she’ll say. I’m a bit scared, though. For now, I don’t dare do anything anymore...

    Hi Appelsien,

How did your pregnancy go after that with your pelvic pain? And afterwards?
I'm curious to hear your story. My story about a pregnancy with pelvic pain can be read on my blog. Www.bekkenblog.nl

    Hi Stefanie,
I just started reading your blog—wow, you did such a great job there! I really could’ve used that a few months ago. Just having someone who truly understands and acknowledges it all...

I’m currently at 38 weeks pregnant. I’ll keep reading your stories over the next few days and then try to describe how my own pregnancy has gone. I’ll give it to you straight upfront—it’s not exactly a walk in the park... Luckily, I do have an amazing osteopath! I thought/hoped it would all be over after giving birth, but now I’m already getting a bit scared seeing some of the things you mention. Still, I shouldn’t jump ahead of the facts or worry too much yet—there’s nothing I can do about it right now anyway!

    See you soon!
