Reduced functionality due to pregnancy

Hi everyone!

I'm currently 24.5 weeks pregnant and I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to. I've been working for a company for over 2 years, and I was promoted to a higher position half a year ago. Because of my pregnancy, it's becoming very difficult for me to continue carrying out these responsibilities, so they've suggested I sign a new contract for a reduced role. I don't want to make a fuss about it, but they would also reduce my salary. Is this legal? Does anyone have experience with this? I find it really upsetting that they're making such a big deal out of my pregnancy...

Best regards!

If I were you, I'd call the Legal Help Desk! I had some issues with my job and pregnancy, and they can tell you exactly what's legally allowed and not allowed! It's a free number you can easily find online! You'll get really good help, and they explain everything clearly! I found it very helpful. Good luck with that (

I’d also call the legal help desk if I were you.
As for your salary, I wouldn’t know either, but I’d have my doubts about the idea of having to sign a new contract. Does that mean you’re starting a new period of contract extensions? I assume you still don’t have a permanent contract after 2 years?? Don’t just agree to it! And enjoy your pregnancy!

Thanks in advance! I got my permanent contract along with the promotion. I definitely want to give them the chance to find a new manager during the period I'm out of action, but that doesn't mean I have to give up part of my salary. I'm going to listen to the union office tomorrow. Hopefully, a solution will pop up soon since I have until next week to decide. But I definitely won't sign anything right away because I don't trust this situation. :-)

    Thanks for the help!

    Best wishes

They're not allowed to change or fire you during and 12 weeks after childbirth, I believe..
