Hi everyone.

Our son, almost 7 weeks old, has the following:

- Cries almost all day, sometimes inconsolable.
- Sleeps poorly and for short periods during the day.
- Arching and grunting.
- He’s refluxing and smells sour from his mouth.
- Doesn’t spit up much.
- Blowing small bubbles.

Our eldest had silent reflux, and now we’re worried it might be happening again. But maybe we’re just too anxious and there’s nothing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

It could be, sure. Just have it checked by the GP. But many young babies suffer from a bit of acid reflux because the valve between the stomach and esophagus isn't fully developed yet. It also helps to give, for example, chamomile or fennel tea to soothe the esophagus a bit. Good luck!

Swaddling really helps a lot for restless babies, we had the same thing here.. he's 10 weeks now.. and the Puckababy mini has worked wonders. .

I'd just go to the GP for a bit; the physio can often also check if there are other complaints, like a stiff neck.

It sounds like your little one really isn't feeling quite right.

Your maternal instincts don't lie, and especially now that you have experience with this.

    Good luck

I think it's more likely reflux; the stomach doesn't close properly in such little ones, and some babies are more sensitive to it than others. I'd suggest keeping them upright for a bit after feeding so the milk doesn't have a chance to come back up. GRTS
