Just pregnant

Hi everyone!

I have a quick question. I'm (unplanned) pregnant with our 3rd child. This was confirmed by a blood test at the GP's office this morning. So, I'm 4-5 weeks pregnant.

Now I have a question. My blood test showed that I likely contracted CMV about 3-4 weeks ago. The doctor suspects this because I've already developed a lot of antibodies. She also said that during these weeks, the chance of infecting the fetus is not high, rather very small. Especially since I didn't contract it just now, but it's been going on for a while.

She reassured me that I shouldn't worry too much and that I'd probably just need more ultrasounds than in a normal pregnancy. Still, I don't feel reassured at all.

I'm completely against abortion. This is my 3rd child (as mentioned, unplanned, which I'm already very unsure about), and now this is added on top of that.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I really hope so because I'm genuinely panicking

Best regards!

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I read that it wasn't planned. Did you get pregnant despite taking the pill? Did you also have a positive urine test? I'm curious if you could have a negative urine test but a positive blood test.

I had an IUD and it came out (I checked the strings and they were half out. When I was holding them between my fingers, someone called me and I got a little jolt from the scare, which caused it to come out). My GP said it can happen to 1 in 100 women that their IUD shifts.
I didn't do a urine test. I wasn't feeling well, nauseous, etc., and after my story about the IUD, my doctor thought it was wise to do a blood test. So there's a reason for it

    Hi everyone...

    I'm looking for "peers"...
After trying for a very long time and going through a series of hormone treatments, my husband and I are expecting our first baby! I'm about 5 weeks pregnant now..
We were over the moon and so happy that it finally worked out.
But that joy was short-lived after a phone call from the GP with the blood test results. Positive for CMV, recently contracted...
I already got some explanation from the gynecologist over the phone regarding amniocentesis, pregnancy termination,...
I had imagined my first pregnancy very differently, and we are completely devastated by the bad news.
We are very worried and can't imagine having to give up our first little miracle if we get bad news later in the pregnancy.
I would really like to enjoy the pregnancy, but I'm afraid of getting more bad news...
Does anyone have experience with this?

    Best wishes,
    Lins

What is CMV? I don't know that abbreviation. I'm also just 5 weeks pregnant and unfortunately got shingles. I got medication for it because it had become so severe. Next Tuesday I have a check-up with the gynecologist. They'll examine whether everything is going well with the pregnancy. I was told that I have a higher risk of miscarriage. I try not to think about it too much. My partner and I have been trying for a while. We even went to a fertility clinic. And a week before that, we hit bingo. So now there's a shadow over my pregnancy. I hope our baby keeps growing well and that we can hold our child in our arms next year. But what I want to say is that I feel with you all. And stay positive.
