    Oh, that's sad, Roosje...

But it's indeed the best. Your chances are higher then, and the sperm is in top condition. You'd have to do it every other day, which you'd have to keep up for quite a while, at least until your egg. That's about 14 days before your expected period, but it can also be later.

May I ask why ovulation tests seem like such a hassle to you?
  2. Tamtam (Tamara) #42

@ Katootjekip, maybe you know that already..... when is a cycle considered irregular?

@ Roosje: in the first few months you can definitely try 'every other day', or every 3 days, and around ovulation a bit more often. If it doesn't work out after a while, ovulation tests can help. It's quite easy, and it's a small effort, I think.
  3. katootjekip #43

    Hi Tamtam,

I think you only really call it irregular if you don't have the same cycle length any month at all, and then with a minimum difference of 7 days. So like: 21 29 40 27.

So having an outlier once is actually normal and okay, it just makes it a bit harder to predict your ovulation. And then we think, yay it worked, but unfortunately...

There are a lot of reasons why you might have an outlier sometimes. One reason could be wanting to get pregnant—oh, is that what we're doing now?

Do you know if your luteal phase is exactly 14 days before your period? That's the average, but for me it's 9 to 11 days.
  4. Tamtam (Tamara) #44

haha indeed! Hmmmmmm so then I'm actually quite regular, with one outlier to 34. Well, that's good to know.

No, shorter. The last time was the 1x time with ovulation tests, so then I also only knew where my egg was approximately. Ovulation test positive on Sunday and Monday, so maybe Tuesday egg? Saturday evening I got pregnant, so about 11 days.

    Hi Jake,

That's exactly what this is for, so you can ask your questions... just do your thing!

I've never taken the pill myself, but I've read from many ladies that it takes a little while for things to get going. So I have no idea if you can call it a miss, have you taken another test?

The part about not having control over your body and getting pregnant, I do relate to that. I'm also a control freak, and this is really something you have absolutely no control over. I notice that the longer it takes, the more I can let go, but without ovulation tests, I just can't anymore; it gives me just a bit more control.

You're still very early on, so I'd give it a bit more time, but just to be safe, I'd take another test a few days from now.

Keep us posted if there are any changes?
  6. Jake #46

@Katootjeskip Thank you so much for your reply and understanding. I know I haven't been trying for long and should just be patient, but right now I'm finding it hard to be patient :-) So I'm really glad I can turn to you guys for my questions.

I haven't taken a test since 6/10. I thought that with the brown spotting it wouldn't make sense anymore, since I was expecting my period.

I think I'll take another test no earlier than 6/13... I'll let my body have the time to really bring my period through. Maybe it's taking this long because I'm getting a bit stressed about it.

    I'll definitely keep you posted.

    Hi Jake!

I had this too after stopping the pill. Only it took 6 months for me and then I went to the GP.
Turns out you shouldn't count these 'spotting' as a period.. I wasn't ovulating and that had to do with it.. Up until now, in a year's time, I've never had a real period.

Wait it out for a bit, it can take a long time after the pill before you become 'regular'!

  8. Jake #48

@Kruimel Wow, that's intense. Not nice for you. Thanks for your reply. Now I know it's not really positive unless the MS really goes through.
  9. katootjekip #49

    Hi Jake,

It's completely normal that you're thinking about it and can't find your patience; it's quite a stressful step where you can't get a grip on things. I also understand for you that if your period doesn't come through, that's not a nice situation. I hope you'll get clarity soon.

And Tamtam, I just saw your message about the headache, but indeed, you also have a nice regular cycle and your body played a little trick on you for a bit, and yeah, those are the worst days...

So that's pretty much the same as with me. Have you felt anything with your egg?

    Ladies, good luck!

@jake it’s not just you that feels this way—it’s the same for me too! A lot of girls experience this at the beginning! Keep an eye on it, and if it really lasts long, go see your GP!

Hey Tamtam! I just saw that your due date is around the same time as mine, if I'm not mistaken.. mine is around the 16th.. I'm curious to see if those ovulation tests really do their job well.. and then I hope I'll be holding a test with two lines in my hand next month!! hahahahaah
  12. Tamtam (Tamara) #52

@ Katootjekip: nooo, I actually never feel anything from my egg. That's why I'm glad for the tests, then you have a very good indication, which is nice.

@ Linda: if I look at last month, I expect my egg around October 15th or 16th. I've started testing today, day 12, but I don't expect a smiley in the first few days. But who knows, it might be completely different this time. That's possible too.

I hope so for you, for everyone! Good luck again, ladies!
  13. katootjekip #53

Hi ladies, how's it going here?

Tamtam, I haven't been able to feel my egg either now, maybe it's there at night, that's quite possible. Two months ago I felt my egg very clearly, but I think that's because I was using the ovutest, which makes you more in tune with your body.

I've had huge period-like pain since last night and light pink urine this morning, so I don't really have a good feeling about it, but well, it's only another week to wait...

    Have a nice day everyone!
  14. Tamtam (Tamara) #54

    Hi!
    Everything is fine here!
    Enjoying the weekend.
I'm also waiting for a positive ovulation test... but it might still take a few days (now day 14).

Pffffff, it's exciting. I can imagine you're not feeling so great about it either, so just wait and see. Hopefully, the week flies by quickly.

    Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
  15. Linda33 #55

pffff... started the ovu tests yesterday.. a very faint line.. today a clear line, but not as dark or darker than the control line, if I test more positive tomorrow just to be sure with a CB test, because those lines, I'm squinting at them.. is it pink now? or not quite? a smiley or no smiley.. that's clear anyway.. although it's not possible, I really don't expect my egg before Tuesday.. otherwise nothing matches my cycle....

sorry I'm not responding to everyone, but I'm having a bit of trouble keeping up with all the conversations (I almost need to create a booklet to keep track of who is who and how long they've been trying and what situation they're in..) to avoid painful comments, so I don't always respond...
  16. Jake #56

    Hi ladies,

I've been quiet for a bit because I've just been through a very confusing time.
After my early scan, I only had some brown discharge. When I happened to drop by the doctor's office, she took a blood test just to be safe. The next day, she called to say I was pregnant, even though I'd started spotting lightly an hour earlier. So we had to wait and see. This weekend I got terrible abdominal pain, so I went back to the doctor on Monday. Another blood test, and I was told my HCG levels had dropped... miscarriage.
Since my body was already handling it and it was still early, the gynecologist decided to let it happen naturally. So I have to wait a few weeks until the bleeding stops before I can try again.

Anyway, thanks for your replies when I was so unsure!!

    Hi Jake,

That's so sad. You were so incredibly happy and then it went wrong—I can only imagine how hard it must be to process all that in such a short time.

I hope you start feeling better soon and can move forward, but how are you doing emotionally right now? Sending you strength!

    Big hugs,
    Katootjekip
  18. Jake #58

    Hey Katootjeskip,

yes, it's a bit too much for me right now. I feel really insecure at the moment and a bit lost.
The tricky part is that I do have stomach pain, but very little bleeding, so I really just have to wait and see. Next week I need to go back to the GP to monitor that the HCG level drops sufficiently and that no complications arise.

    How are you doing?

    xxx
  19. katootjekip #59

I totally get that you're feeling like crap and insecure, it's a lot, and now you're also waiting until everything's out and you're feeling okay again.

Things are going well for me, Friday is my due date, and that's of course exciting again. If I don't go into labor, I'll take a test on Sunday. I don't really feel like it's happening, unlike what I felt very strongly last week, but we'll see.

It's still exciting. Wishing you lots of strength, really hoping your body gets back to normal soon. Your sadness will probably last a bit longer.

    Hugs

    Hi,

    How are things over there?

I just wanted to let you all know that my intuition was spot on this time. For over a week, I had this feeling that I was pregnant, and guess what:

I am pregnant and so incredibly happy!
