gestational diabetes

Hi, I'm 26 weeks and 6 days, so tomorrow 27 weeks... My sugar test was slightly elevated, and now I have to do a new test on Saturday to see if it's really gestational diabetes... Something like this is really not nice, right? I'm scared of the result! I've been watching my sugar intake for 3 weeks now and not eating any sweets. If the test on Saturday isn't good, I'll have to go to a dietitian who will explain what I can and can't eat, and then I'll also have to prick my own fingers for my values... We just have to think, it's for our baby... Soon she'll be born and hopefully we'll be rid of that high sugar, right!! What CTS is on your hands, I don't know?!

    Hi Marie,

May I ask how your second test went?
My first test showed a sugar level of 139, but it should be at most 130. I also have to go back this week for another big test.
I can't think of anything else...

    Hi there,

Cheer up! I also got gestational diabetes with my first daughter. It was so severe that I even had to inject insulin. She was born completely healthy, weighing 2910 grams and measuring 49 cm. The whole pregnancy went well. Yes, taking shots and injections is tough. But come on, is this really that bad??? There are women who have to lie down for the entire pregnancy and aren't allowed to get up. With my second daughter, it was the same story; this time I even had an insulin pump. My levels were always super! She was also born healthy, weighing 3180 grams and measuring 49 cm. And now... pregnant with the third, I'm on an insulin pump again.

So, just enjoy your pregnancy. When the time comes, you'll see it wasn't that bad after all, and you did enjoy it.

    Thanks for the encouraging words.
It's still terrifying though... but yeah, first wait for the second test and then just accept whatever comes.
    All for that little sprout!

    Hi girls,
I'm due on the 5th. Every time I have to start injecting insulin from 10 weeks
(4 times a day). But you just have to think it's only for 30 weeks.
I have pretty bad gestational diabetes, but the kids are around 6 pounds
at birth. And after that, my gestational diabetes goes away.
So girls, stay positive, there are worse things out there. Try to enjoy your pregnancy,
you're doing it all for that little miracle anyway.

I'm also pregnant with gestational diabetes here. During the week, I find it really easy to stick to the diet I have to follow, but on weekends it's quite tough because we usually go into the city or somewhere else every Saturday and Sunday. Eating on time just doesn't work out then. And often when we come home late, it's a quick bite. According to the diabetologist, my levels are super good and I'm allowed to deviate a little now.

A tip. Pay close attention to carbohydrates; that's where the sugars are hidden. I can't eat bread because then my sugar shoots up, but I can eat crackers and I feel full after having 5 of those. Drink light or zero drinks. If you drink coffee, use sweetener instead of coffee creamer, but use regular milk. Limit certain types of fruit like bananas and melons. Otherwise, it's just about finding what works for you. It's not like you have to give up everything. You can definitely have a handful of chips or some fries once in a while. And nowadays, there are quite a few things made with sweetener instead of sugar And if your sugar still shoots up while you feel really hungry, you'll need to use insulin. Because the idea isn't that you can't eat.

Meanwhile, our little one is at 3000 grams, which the gynecologist says is a very good weight, so I think I really didn't do too badly

CTS is carpal tunnel syndrome, I think.
