Hemorrhoids! Who has the golden tip?

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question... I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant now and have had hemorrhoids since about the beginning of my pregnancy. But right now they're even bigger and more painful... I've already tried Hemoclin ointment and Cural tablets combined with Cural ointment.
I'm drinking liters of Roosvicee Laxo, and I have Movicolon syrup that I need to take 3 times a day.

It's really hindering me in my daily life, and I'm really dreading the birth now!

Does anyone know how I can at least get rid of the pain?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have any experience with it, but I did a midwifery training course a long time ago (1 year) along with the corresponding internship. What I remember is that they sprayed something in their nose... it was supposed to help with the swelling. But that was really 15 years ago, so maybe you should double-check or ask around?

Old topic but always relevant and yet a bit taboo for many pregnant women:

Yes indeed, the midwife's tip is still to use Curalol and possibly a nasal spray.

I once heard a grandmother's remedy that you should take a bath with lavender oil, for example using a sponge, and sit in/on it.

Nasal spray (with the active ingredient xylometazoline, e.g., Otrivin or a store-brand adult nasal spray) does indeed work to temporarily shrink hemorrhoids.
For the birth, you could also go to the pharmacy for Microlax (available without a prescription), which allows you to empty the rectum, so you have less or no discomfort during the pushing stage and thus a lower chance of worsening the hemorrhoids.

And the good news: hemorrhoids (even severe ones) at the end of your pregnancy/after your birth can completely disappear afterwards. Been there, done that

Hmmm, unfortunately nothing disappeared after my first pregnancy, and now I've gained a huge amount more… :/
Also had some really severe constipation. I absolutely need to keep things 'soft' using Movicol in large quantities (up to 6 sachets per day). Magnesium tablets can be added to that.

I'm also really constipated and dealing with internal hemorrhoids.
Nasal spray does indeed reduce the swelling, and it feels nice to have a fresh liquid sprayed against it.
Unfortunately, I can't give you any advice for constipation; I'm trying all sorts of things myself. Taking natural powders, Movicol, fruit, etc.
According to my GP, it should help to eat a portion of fresh apple or pear puree daily, made from apples and pears that you pick fresh from the tree and then cook with the skin on. It doesn't help me, but I've heard that fresh apples can have a laxative effect for some people.
A toilet seat riser can also help prevent hemorrhoids a bit.
Sitting on an inflatable ring can make sitting less painful.
    Good luck with it!

    Hey ladies,

I’m lucky enough not to have this issue, but I’ve got a golden tip!
    Honey!

It sounds like a terrible joke, but an acquaintance of mine was pregnant and had honey on the toilet. I asked her why she had honey on the toilet. She told me she applied it to her hemorrhoids and they’re practically gone now.

You’ve got nothing to lose, so I’d say give it a try!

    Best,
    Maaike

Exercise also helps with constipation. Try to walk or cycle every day (it's good for your fitness and keeping a slim figure ). And drink enough water (or other fluids, e.g., tea). Fiber alone doesn't help with constipation; it can even make it worse if you don't drink enough.
A combination of all measures usually works best.

    Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, no golden tip to get rid of hemorrhoids, I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant myself. But you can prevent constipation by eating 2 kiwis a day! And of course drinking enough fluids.
    Kiwis are truly my salvation!
    Good luck to all!
