The most terrible nightmares

I just woke up from a nightmare again... In my dream, I took the dog to the vet, only to find out he has a brain tumor and needs to be put to sleep... I can see now, as I write this, that it probably reflects my fear of neglecting my two dogs once the baby arrives, since I'm so active with them. I actually went to the vet this week, and afterward, he was worried about a tumor. But I just lay here crying for half an hour straight. We adopted him and raised him, and we're now training at a high level, so he's incredibly close to my heart.
Are there more people with "real" dreams/nightmares during pregnancy?

oh what a terrible dream. i wouldn't try to think too much about it! just keep reminding yourself that dreams are deceptive..

i also have very realistic dreams myself and usually they're not pleasant either. luckily i forget them as soon as i start my day. i don't want to dwell on them too much.. but it's still annoying!! i wonder if this can be influenced.

I read everywhere that it's due to the hormones. I've also had really nice dreams about my delivery, that it's going to be a girl, and how I'd name her. But my nightmares always revolve around my oldest dog, even though he's doing fine. I don't usually dwell on it for long, but this really got to me, so I thought I'd just write it off.

Makes sense, that's what the forum is for, right! I hope you don't have too much trouble with your night terrors... strength!

    Hi hi...

I've been having a lot of nightmares too... I recently dreamed that we had a huge baby... I couldn't even hold it because it was so big, haha... I told my husband that can't be right, this isn't a baby anymore, hehe... I think it's because we already have a 6-year-old son. Or that my belly suddenly disappeared without anything coming out... also so weird.

Oh oh, yeah, lots of dreams too, but luckily not such scary ones... I dreamed I was back in Pakistan... back at work, it was quite cozy. And yeah, really, really vivid.

Yeah, the dreams are really vivid and that makes them even scarier, etc...

Yeah, it's kinda silly that I dreamt about my dog.

The topic has come up here quite often before!

I used to get medication to suppress my dreams and not remember them. Depending on my mood, my dreams can be too realistic. And I can obsess over them for days afterwards. I even remember what everyone was wearing!

At exactly 12 weeks, I dreamed that I had a miscarriage and woke up crying the next morning, and my abdominal muscles hurt!! The fear, pain, and shame!! It felt like I had really experienced it, and it took a while before I realized it hadn't happened!

Now I dream that someone takes my baby away and I'm powerless, my husband often has to wake me up and then I dive to protect my fists!! I sometimes feel ashamed...

Yeah, it’s really weird. Before I was pregnant, I dreamed that I was pregnant, and now I sometimes have very vivid dreams that I’m giving birth to the strangest babies :s

I had those too, the most terrible nightmares, it was out of control.
Now I don't have them as often, but when I was still less than 12 weeks pregnant, it was pretty much every day.
    I'd wake up really startled.

I’m not really into meds myself, but I did have a period (when I wasn’t pregnant) where I was dreaming a lot and not getting enough sleep. My mom suggested a homemade lavender pillow with another calming herb, which helped me dream less and get more rest... maybe it’s an idea? It can’t hurt anyway..

    Hey future moms,

I'm currently not pregnant (already a mom), but when I was 6 months pregnant, I had a terrible nightmare (I still dream about it, and have been dreaming it since my teenage years)

I dreamed that thousands of spiders were crawling on me, including those tarantulas. It felt so real that I woke up startled in my sleep and fell from my high bed, landing a meter away against my dresser! Luckily, my husband was home at that moment (he had been out with friends), and just as I fell and groaned in pain, he was startled too. He was so panicked that he just burst through the door (breaking the door) to see what was happening! Luckily, I didn't fall on my belly, but my back was bruised and blue, and I had pain everywhere as if a truck had run me over!!! I went to the ER, but luckily it was just bruises, and the baby was fine!!!

And the funniest part is that the nurse gave me a weird look when I told her what happened!

She looked at me with wide eyes and said, "Are you sure nothing else is going on?" She really thought I was being abused by my husband!!! Oh my god

Oh my goodness, what a story, pfff... I have to tell you that I've had that dream about spiders crawling on me so many times too, absolutely terrifying. Last night I had the exact same dream and then I jump out of bed... pull the covers off and turn on the lamp haha.. my husband scares himself silly... I sometimes have the weirdest and scariest dreams.. it really gets to me sometimes!!
