What?!

I’ve known I’m pregnant for a week. If all goes well, I should be around five weeks pregnant now.

Last Tuesday, I got the scare of my life when I had bright red bleeding—only in the morning and evening, and not at all during the day.

This afternoon at work, I suddenly got cramps and started bleeding again. In a panic, I went home and am now lying on the couch.

Currently, no more bleeding, but I do have a tight feeling in my lower abdomen and some weird popping/bubbling sensations.

What now?! This is making me incredibly anxious!

The midwife said there’s nothing else I can do right now except wait...

    Hi KFRijns,

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy..
It's awful that you're losing blood.. terrible! Losing blood during pregnancy just gives such a bad feeling..
Are you having any pain too?
I would just go to the hospital if you're worried, they might do an ultrasound and hopefully you'll know where you stand.. It causes so much stress otherwise.. I also lost blood in my previous pregnancy..
    Strength and take it easy!

Losing blood can happen. It's all still very early on, and nature takes its course, however that may sound. Lying flat won't help. It can go either way. Feeling those little bubbles/pops is likely in your uterus. That could indicate something is happening in your uterus. I think right now you can only calmly wait and see. You can listen to others' experiences, but that doesn't help. Then you might worry about nothing or get false hope. That's why I don't share my experience with you.
I mean well Looking for distraction. Easier said than done...

The bleeding was only at that moment. No more blood loss.
I still feel all sorts of things in my lower abdomen. Less when I'm lying down than when I'm standing.
A tight feeling and a pulling sensation from top to bottom.
But I'm so focused on this now that I don't know what I'm feeling anymore...

kfrijns, it sounds a bit harsh, but I actually agree with mamavan2. It can really go either way in the first few weeks. But if I were you, I'd call a midwife. I did this early in my pregnancy too, and the first midwife I called gave me a really unpleasant response. I decided to look for another midwife who took me more seriously. I could get an ultrasound appointment right away with her. And she's still a fantastic midwife for us!

    Hi Kfrijs,

Just do what your gut tells you.. Just call them.. They might be able to see something via an internal ultrasound..
    Strength!

    @Kfrijs,

Take the safe route and try to get in touch with your midwife to see if you're still pregnant. Feeling uncertain is nothing to worry about either.
Good luck and I hope you're still pregnant...

    Kind regards, Ju

First of all, congratulations... bleeding in the first trimester can be completely fine, I had it myself too, not a lot but still not pleasant. I was also told to just wait it out, but basically I had to assume it was from implantation and that everything would be fine... luckily it was only for a short while and everything turned out fine... so just try to stay positive (however hard that may be)!!! Stress is absolutely not good and can only make it worse, but I know how you feel.
Keep going with S6 and assume that everything will be fine
Hope everything is okay with you now!!

    Regards
