I was curious if any of you are also around 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant, and what symptoms you're experiencing?
Or maybe a bit further along—I'm curious.
Best, Marieke

Hi Marieke. First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy!
I spoke to the midwife on Monday, and she told me I’m probably around 7 weeks now.
But my intuition tells me I’m only 5 weeks. I have somewhat sensitive nipples, and I get tired quickly.
Also, I’ve had a nagging feeling in my lower abdomen almost all day. Yesterday, I had such strong cramps that I woke up from them. It feels a bit like period pain.
I’ll call on Monday just to check if it’s okay.
What symptoms are you experiencing, if I may ask? Or do you not have any discomfort yet?
Kind regards, Fleur -

Hi Fleur, congratulations to you too on your pregnancy.
It can really vary when it comes to symptoms; some have them, others don't.
I get tired quickly, I've had breast discomfort for a while now,
I'm a bit nauseous but not vomiting, I'm hungry haha, and I have some cramps (like period cramps), and I need to pee a lot.
Other than that, I'm not sleeping very well, so I get headaches.
I hope it's "good pain."
Be careful haha and let's keep in touch.
Let me know what the doctor said?
Greetings, Marieke -

Thanks!
Yeah, it really can vary from person to person! I also often have to pee a lot, haha.
I just tried calling them, but they're only available until 1:30. So I'll wait a bit. Maybe drinking a glass of warm milk with honey before bed helps; it also makes you feel a bit rosy. Or maybe chamomile tea? There's also a tea for a good night's sleep, maybe that would help you.
It's nice to read that you also have some period pain. Not nice for you, haha, but maybe there's nothing wrong after all, and I don't have to worry so much. I'm already on edge with every little thing I feel; I immediately get stressed haha
I'll let you know once I've spoken to them. You take care too, easy does it

Hi Fleur & Marieke,
I'm 5 weeks pregnant today and would really love to share the tension, uncertainties, but also the joy with you all :-)
I took a test last Friday, actually a few days before my expected period, and it was positive.
On Monday I took a digital Clear Blue, which indicated I was 2-3 weeks pregnant, so 4-5 weeks pregnant.
However, last week I had a pretty bad flu with high fever, and last week on Tuesday I had a few drops of light pink discharge, and on Wednesday a little bit more discharge with some brown mucus. Very nerve-wracking, but yesterday and today I only lost clear, colorless mucus, and last night I got a positive pregnancy test again, so I'm feeling a bit reassured. I have really sore breasts, often some cramps in my uterus (last week really sharp stabs, this week more like period cramps), and today suddenly a bit of an uncomfortable bloated feeling. I can't quite describe it properly, but it's a unpleasant feeling (but not severe, because it just feels like confirmation!). Also low appetite, and occasionally heartburn. Oh yes, and tired...! At work it's manageable, but when I'm sitting on the couch at home, I can fall asleep so easily!
Fleur, I wouldn't worry, as far as I know the feeling is completely normal.

Hi Anna! How nice, congratulations to you too! Sounds like a lovely time!
It's unfortunate that you weren't feeling well. Hopefully you're feeling better already.
I didn't know cramps were normal, or at least that more women experience them. My sister (who already has two little ones) and my mom never had them, so that made me a bit nervous.
But low appetite? Are you nauseous or just genuinely not hungry? I don't usually eat that much, but now I'm craving everything! Haha
Well, if I were you, I'd definitely take it easy and rest up

I've only had two small bouts of nausea so far, but it's not a big deal. I just don't have much of an appetite. No desire to eat, and I fill up quickly. I don't think this is typical morning sickness anyway! I do find it quite stressful every time I go to the toilet after my little bit of bleeding last week... I really need to let that go, it's so annoying! Have you guys developed any new symptoms? -

Hey girls,
I had the midwife on the phone today. She said those cramps are normal. But since I've been feeling them all day, I need to keep an eye on them, and if I get another really bad cramp, I should call them. Then I can come by and they'll take a quick look. Hope it gets better from now on.
Yes, Anna, I totally get that you feel that way. I think I would too! But try not to think about it anymore and just enjoy it! (Haha, I guess I have to say that... neurotic)
If you really have no appetite, I'd just eat whatever you do feel like eating or what you really enjoy.
Sorry about your headache, Marieke. Maybe it's because you're thinking so much right now or about the baby, haha.
I usually only weigh 36 kg, but my boyfriend has been stuffing me lately. I have to eat healthy, enough, fruit, this and that, haha. It's very sweet of him.
But I don't measure my belly, I only weigh myself occasionally. And I have an app on my iPad called My Little Sprout, so I can keep track of how big she or he is approximately. It's quite funny to see.
I don't have sensitive breasts yet, just my nipples a little bit. And indeed, also bouts of nausea. Haha, your boyfriend just has to swallow it; the hormones are raging through your body! Haha
According to the midwife I spoke to on the phone, I'm now 7 weeks and 5 days.
I'm so excited about the first ultrasound!

Fleur, that's great that your midwife reassured you and offered for you to come by if the cramps get worse! Marieke, nausea is always unpleasant, of course, but it's also nice because it's such a typical pregnancy symptom (as long as it's not too intense and doesn't last too long!).
I finally had a good appetite tonight, but after eating I felt very full and bloated, and a tiny bit nauseous. When you're nauseous, do you also have that unpleasant (somewhat bloated) feeling in your belly? -
Fleur #11
Glad you ate well, but it’s annoying that you get that bloated feeling right away... maybe you ate a bit too much? I’ve had a bloated feeling all day! Haha, my bowel movements have been really bad lately. I don’t know if it’s because of the pregnancy, but sometimes I can’t go to the toilet for days.
And when I feel nauseous, it (thankfully) only lasts a few minutes... and then it’s gone again. -

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try, I bought Activia but it doesn't help at all. Yeah, the midwife said that on the phone. But I think I'm less weeks pregnant... (of course I hope not)
I have my first appointment on May 28th, then I can ask questions and they'll take blood and urine samples. And on June 11th I have my first ultrasound. Do you already have an appointment with the midwife?

I happened to call this morning and I’m allowed to go there at almost 9 weeks. Then it’s purely intake, and maybe an ultrasound the following week, if everything goes well!
It’s nice that your appointment is already so soon! -
Fleur #14
Yeah, soon, haha, just two more weeks! I wish it were already tomorrow.

Hi Anna, I think that’s normal. I don’t have sensitive breasts at all, only my nipples. Sometimes they’re more sensitive than other times. Last night I couldn’t lie on them, and now when I touch them, I barely feel anything.

Hi,
I can feel them a little bit again now ;-) and today I was actually feeling a bit nauseous for the first time, so things are probably still okay (hopefully :-).
By the way, a new topic has been opened under 'chatty banter': Due January 2014.
Maybe it'd be fun to join in there too?
How are you doing with your constipation, Fleur? -
Fleur #17
Ooooh better! Yeah, I don't know exactly how far along I am, of course. But we can always chat nicely, haha.
Well, pff, it's not quite going as smoothly as before. I've tried a few things now. But I guess I just have to accept it, I suppose it's part of it.
May I ask what kind of work you do and if you've had to cut back? I work in home care, and it's physically demanding. I notice that when I'm busy, I get some discomfort in my belly. I sent an email to my employer saying we're expecting. I thought they'd automatically give me information about what I can and can't do, but she just said I had to submit a pregnancy certificate... -

What a weird reaction from your employer... Hopefully, there was at least a congratulations in there somewhere?
I work at a vet clinic, so there's quite a bit I have to be careful with (x-rays, gas anesthesia, cat poop...). My boss didn't say anything about it either, but it's pretty common knowledge and I'm very clear about what I do and don't do. Sometimes I 'forget' for a moment and catch myself doing something I should be more careful with (like cleaning a dirty cat's mouth without gloves). For now, work is going fine for me and I've told my boss that when I'm at 12 weeks and have had my first scan, I'll sit down with him to discuss some future matters, but I'm not thinking about that at all right now and I still find the pregnancy quite thrilling/exciting to think about yet. -

Hi ladies, it's been a while! I went for my first ultrasound on Tuesday. Turns out I'm not 11 weeks but 9. So my gut feeling was right after all
How are you all doing?
Best, Fleur
