6 weeks pregnant and brown blood?

Hi,

I'm just 6 weeks pregnant, and unfortunately, I'm not enjoying this pregnancy right now because I'm really panicking. On Wednesday night, I noticed a bit of old blood (I think) on my toilet paper (sorry). It didn't feel right, so yesterday I had an ultrasound for reassurance. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to see yet because it's still very early. You could see a gestational sac, but the embryo was still too small. She told me I don't need to worry as long as I don't have bright red blood or cramps. But I'm still worried!!

Has anyone here experienced this?

    Hi Dounja,

That's really tough! It's all still so early and there's nothing definite to say yet. At 1 week it goes wrong and with the other one it goes well. Are you getting another ultrasound next week to see if they can see it better then?
The only thing you can do is let nature take its course. Nature does its thing.
But it's possible that you'll lose some blood during the first trimester. My midwife always says to call if it's more than a pad full of blood within an hour.
Wishing you lots of strength and hoping things stay okay. As I said before, no one can really say for sure because nature does its thing...

    Hi Dounja,

I’ve been pregnant twice myself since then, but unfortunately, both ended in miscarriages. Both times I started bleeding early on. Because I still felt pregnant, I went to the GP both times. I had an ultrasound, but nothing could be seen. Then I had blood drawn, and the results showed my HCG levels were very low, meaning I wasn’t pregnant anymore.

I wish you lots of suc6 and really hope things keep going well for you. If you feel something’s wrong, don’t hesitate to reach out. There are always people who can help or support you.

    Warm regards, Ilona

Hey! Don't worry too much, it could just be some old blood from implantation! I had brown bleeding until almost 12 weeks in my first pregnancy! And now I have a perfectly healthy 2-year-old son!

@Dounja, sending you so much strength with this loss. I can share this experience with you because I’ve also had two miscarriages.

Hi everyone, I'm about 6 weeks now and I'm also experiencing brown discharge, which makes me really insecure. My first ultrasound is actually in 2 weeks, but because I'm so upset about it, they've moved it to next Thursday. Hope everything's okay.

Thanks for the kind replies. I also had a treatment at the hospital and now I have quite heavy bleeding and I'm afraid to go back. I'm currently in the waiting room at my GP's office, pfff. @natas Bertje bruinbloed it doesn't have to be too serious. Keep hoping but also stay realistic, it can go either way. And if you want an ultrasound earlier, you should mention that. The uncertainty is just hell. Strength.

    Hi everyone,
I'm also around 6-7 weeks pregnant and I'm really worried. It's already the third day that I'm losing brown blood. I have an appointment the day after tomorrow, hoping everything will be fine. I've heard from people that as long as it's not bright red blood, you don't need to worry, so I'm staying hopeful.

@yana you can only wait and see. Try not to stress yourself out. I hope everything turns out okay. Strength.

Just got back from the doctor. They didn't say much, just that the gestational sac is visible, the baby is around 7mm, and we need to wait and see. I have to go back next week. If the baby has grown by then, I absolutely don't need to worry. For now, I'm resting at home, waiting calmly, and hoping it doesn't come out this week.

Thought last Saturday that I was just entering my 8th week, and suddenly lost brown blood. I called the midwife and could come to the practice. Once there, I got an ultrasound, and they could see the ring, and a tiny little fetus, completely intact.....but so small that he can't be 7 weeks old but about 5!! Then I might have had a late ovulation or he implanted later? He's too small for a heartbeat, and I have to come back on Friday.
Still have brown discharge, and when wiping, there's also some redder blood. Occasionally my ovaries ache, but the midwife said it could go either way. Either he stopped growing 2 weeks ago, or he's going to grow this week and it could turn out okay. Blood loss itself doesn't mean much.
I'm so scared it's going to go wrong, already have 4 healthy children, had a miscarriage last year, really hope this baby will make it! All my pregnancy symptoms are still there, super-sensitive breasts etc. Who recognizes this and did it turn out okay for them?

    Love,

I still remember which year this post is from. It's been a while, anyway. I went through this too, and the IVF department at AZM made me come back three weeks in a row. So week 7, 8, and 9. And in week 9, the little heart wasn't beating anymore. They already told me in week 7 that the growth was two weeks behind. And that this probably meant the baby would stop growing. And they were right. I had antacid tablets and vaginal suppositories. And within an hour, the baby was out. 1 cm, no limbs. So it really stayed stuck at week 5 in terms of growth. Maybe it sounds strange to say, but it was good to see this, to really realize that it wasn't possible to continue growing... It's not fun, and now we're a few years further along, 40 years old, and kids really aren't in the cards anymore. Maybe with egg donation. We're now working on donor 4 abroad.

    Hi everyone.

I'm about 5-6 weeks pregnant and haven't had an ultrasound yet, so I can't say for sure, but I suddenly started having a very small amount of brown discharge this evening... It started when I noticed it while wiping, and now it's also there when I pee, but only a little bit... I'm really worried though... On one site I read that it's probably nothing to worry about and likely old blood, but on another site I read that it could be a sign of a heavier bleed... So I'm already freaking out and stressing. Does anyone know more about this or have any tips? Thanks in advance, everyone!!

    Hi everyone,
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and since Friday I've been losing a lot of bright red blood. I went to the hospital and luckily they could see that the heartbeat is still there, but I'm so scared... I keep bleeding and I've called the GP, I need to go there today. I hope everything will be okay.
