Dear ladies,
What's the best way to deal with swollen ankles? Does a compression bandage help, or is it not recommended?

There are pregnant women who wear compression stockings because they have really swollen ankles; these should be fitted by your GP. What also helps is drinking plenty of water, elevating your feet above heart level when lying down, drinking diuretic things (like Weleda's birch elixir, but don't use it if you suffer from hay fever), eating celery and cucumber, and acupuncture and foot reflexology are said to help too.
If you suddenly get very swollen ankles but also have a headache and swollen fingers, you should contact your GP or midwife, as it could also be high blood pressure or, in the worst case, pre-eclampsia.
