Second time pregnant and no pink cloud.

Hi everyone,

I'm 9 weeks pregnant with our second little one now, but it feels completely different from the first time. Back then, I was on cloud nine, so happy about the new life growing inside me. I was really nauseous with the first one too, but I always saw it as something positive (the baby is growing well, etc.).

Now, I just don't have those "warm feelings" for the little thing in my belly. It's not that it's unwanted, but I'm so often tired and nauseous that I feel more indifferent... I really want to enjoy it, but for some reason, I can't. I usually feel awful and guilty (because of that indifference). Has anyone else experienced this? Will it pass?

I had the same feeling and I didn't feel pregnant either. Both were planned, and with the first one I was on cloud nine, but with the second one, I wasn't. I eventually became desperate. How could this be? I wanted it so badly. With me, it didn't go well. I had to give birth at 21 weeks. Please don't feel reassured by this story, because I felt from the start that something wasn't right. So wait for the ultrasound first and see what you feel then. If your intuition about the health is good, I think you'll feel very differently after the first ultrasound. It could also be anxiety, of course.

Well, I do feel pregnant. I'm really nauseous and I'm already going to bed at 8:30 PM because I'm so tired... We just had an ultrasound, and although I was happy to see everything was fine and the baby was happily wiggling around, that warm feeling inside was missing... It's like I'm numb at the moment...
Maybe it's because of the tough period we just went through: we just moved and our first child has only just recovered from a serious operation (which is going well now, by the way)... maybe I'm just scared that something might be wrong with this baby too...

When you're feeling so negative about your pregnancy, it can help to talk to a psychologist. Maybe they can help you feel more positive about your pregnancy. It could also be due to the big changes in your hormone levels that you're feeling this way. I wouldn't just keep carrying around these feelings and hope they'll go away on their own. The sooner you address these feelings, the less likely you are to develop postpartum depression (although that sounds pretty heavy). Good luck
