Pregnant after 2 miscarriages..

Hi ladies,

I’m finally pregnant after 2 miscarriages.. But even though I’m almost at 13 weeks, I’m still worried! After I had the 2 miscarriages, the hospital advised me to have a chromosomal test done. But without me realizing it, I was already pregnant again! So I didn’t do the test.
Now I’m still worried whether my baby might have a disorder. My GP, gynecologist, and midwife all say that the chance is no higher than for anyone else. Still, I’ve decided to do the combined test. I hope that if the result of that test is good, I’ll feel a bit more at ease!
Does anyone recognize this story?

Best regards.

I can partially relate to your story. We had to terminate our pregnancy at almost 21 weeks. We did have genetic testing (chromosome analysis) done, which revealed that our girl had trisomy (a severe chromosomal abnormality). We were told that if we were to have another pregnancy, there wouldn't be a higher risk than for anyone else. Now I'm pregnant again, and just to be safe, we're also doing a combined screening test. This was advised to us by the doctor and the genetic counseling center based on our experience. We're also getting the 20-week ultrasound at 13 weeks. All of this is to reassure us and, if something is found, to know as early as possible.

So, regarding the anxiety, I completely understand. I have a really good feeling about this pregnancy, which I didn't have with the previous one, but I'm still very anxious about both tests. I'm scared they might find something.

    Greetings, Mamavan2
