3 days overdue, not pregnant, negative test

Hi everyone,

Let me introduce myself, I'm Lara and I've been wanting children since 2005. I've been pregnant 4 times, but unfortunately, it didn't work out each time.
I've had ICSI treatments (which were very hard for me) and I've stopped for now (I'm allowed to try one more time).
Still no baby so far.

I've been trying to come to terms with the fact that it probably won't work out for now, but then this happened.
I have a very regular cycle of 27 to 28 days.
My period was supposed to start on 15/3 or 16/3, but so far nothing. Of course, I've done tests because I was really anxious.
But they've all been negative so far (both Clearblue and KV). I had cramps in my stomach for a week before my expected period, then a day without, then a day with again. And now I have occasional cramps, which isn't what I'm used to when my period is about to start. My breasts are a bit tender, but that's about it.
Does anyone have advice for me? I know I should wait and test again, but the disappointment is always so big when it says -not pregnant-!
Hopefully, someone has some advice for me.

Love

    First off, welcome here

I don't know why it takes so long for you to get pregnant. Probably some tests have already been done, but being 3 days late with a regular cycle is already quite a bit. Maybe it's because you're letting go and it's suddenly working—that's something I've heard before.
The test can be negative because the hCG level isn't high enough yet. My advice: try another test on Thursday morning with first morning urine. If that's negative again, I'd wait out the weekend and possibly go to the doctor on Monday (if you still haven't gotten your period) to get a blood test done (it shows up faster in blood) or do another test yourself.
There are women who are already several weeks pregnant before the test actually says positive. That's why I'd definitely go to the doctor next week in your case, especially with a regular cycle.

    Good luck

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. Yes, it would be amazing if I were indeed pregnant, because it's more than welcome. I find it hard to wait because every extra day overdue gives me more hope. But it's good to hear that there are more people who don't test positive right away. So I still have hope.

I've also had more white discharge in the last few days (which I normally don't have). Does anyone here have experience with that?

    Thanks in advance, love

Hi Lara, I'll share my experience. When I was pregnant, I only got a positive test after a week, so it's still possible that you had a late ovulation, which is why it's not showing positive yet. That means your hCG levels might be low. As for symptoms, I had a lot of white discharge, had to go to the toilet all the time, and felt nauseous. Sore breasts came later, but it ended with a miscarriage for me. But of course, that doesn't mean it has to happen the same way for you. Good luck anyway, girl, and I hope we all become mamas.

    Hi,

thanks for the replies, but unfortunately, I got my period last night...
so I'm a bit disappointed, because I'm never late with my cycle and now I really had a small chance of being pregnant
but anyway... we've wanted a child since 2005, so I've had plenty of tears to cry. but we're not giving up and hopefully, one day it'll be our turn...

    Love, Lara

I really think this is sad for you!
I had hoped so much that it would finally work out.
Don't lose hope, even though you've been trying for so long. Try to find some distraction, maybe go on a trip without the intention of getting pregnant, just take a break and try to be a bit less focused on it (which is really hard, I know).
I hope it works out next month for you, I'll be rooting for you all month long!

    ahh thanks!!!
yeah, I'm also trying not to think about it too much, and I've been doing pretty well lately, if I do say so myself, but... then suddenly you're overdue, which never happens, and then it starts playing in your head again, right? And you get hope again.

but yeah, we're just holding on and one day it'll be our turn.

    xxx

Hi ladies, I'm 3 days late and feel pretty pregnant. But still no positive test. I had a miscarriage on Nov 16, the heartbeat stopped at 8.5 weeks, we only found out with the 11-week scan. Unfortunately, it couldn't pass naturally and they did a D&C. We decided to keep trying because we really want a little one. Now, after 2 periods, I'm 3 days late with no positive test. I have sore breasts, mild nausea, mild headaches, cramps for about 2.5 weeks, cramping after orgasm ;-( and my sense of smell is stronger. My last period was on Jan 22, 2013. Hope I'm pregnant!!! What do you think?

    It's always an option, Joyce!
I'd say test again in 2 days

    Hi there,
I've been trying to have kids for 8 years now.
I already have a son, but he passed away.
After 8 years of trying, I've been experiencing a lot of white discharge, tiredness, sore breasts—all the symptoms.
    I'm 3 days late.
I'm too scared to test, but I really want to try today.
When is the best time to do it—in the morning or evening? I hope you can help me out.
    Greetings, Rosita

Morning pee is always more concentrated, but most tests will also show positive during the day if you're pregnant.
Personally, I'd rather do it at home than at the doctor's. Your own environment is always more pleasant (that's what I think).
If you've been trying for 8 years, you probably know your cycle well, so there's a good chance you're really pregnant if you're 3 days late.
Good luck! And let us know the result?

    Hey,

I was supposed to get my period on 03-08 but still haven't seen any signs today. Took a test this morning and it was negative. I feel like my belly is hard, my nipples are sensitive, and I feel nauseous when I smell bad odors. Pff, it's making me so unsure! Any advice?
  13. sietske #14

Just hang in there and keep going, girl. You can still get a negative test easily until the 11th even if you are pregnant.
  14. yasna #15

Pfff, it really makes a person feel insecure, you know!
I haven't had any pain that they're coming. But last week I had huge twinges in my belly, but they're gone now.
I'll wait until Monday, and if they're not there by then, I'll pop by the GP for a quick check.

Strange but true, today they finally got through!
Well, on to the next round

Hi! I was supposed to get my period on Tuesday, and it's Thursday now. I don't feel pregnant, but I'm losing a lot of fluid.
  17. Eefje Guest #18

    And, how did it go?
  18. charon Guest #19

Hi! I stopped taking the pill 3 months ago and was supposed to get my period on September 1st, but so far nothing. I think that's quite a long time for a regular cycle to return. Can anyone help me?
  19. Tp Guest #20

I'm also 3 days late and the test says negative! I've felt nauseous for 4 days and even dizzy! Could it be that these symptoms have nothing to do with each other? I stopped the pill 10 months ago?
