Missed miscarriage

In short... The first year we wanted a baby, my cycle was totally messed up after the pill. Second year we started Clomid. Third year we had 5 inseminations. Just before the sixth (last) one, we wanted to skip a cycle because Christmas was coming up. The week after Christmas, I still hadn't gotten my period, so I took a test. Well, they always kept them standard in the cupboard. What do you think? Two lines!! My happiness couldn't have been higher. I did it again the next day and yes, two thick lines. Our close family knew about our 'attempts', so we naturally told them the good news right away. My little sister was pregnant with her second child at that time, and the silence that had been there disappeared immediately. Everyone was doubly happy. The first ultrasound showed a heartbeat, and it was the most beautiful moment of my life. Two weeks later, we went in for the next scan. Full of tension, we went inside. The doctor immediately shook his head. No heartbeat to be found and zero activity. I didn't fancy waiting for a natural miscarriage. That could take weeks... On that Friday, February 1st, I had a curettage. My happiness was short-lived; I was only 9 weeks along. Did I have to wait that long for it?...

Wow, what a story... I'm still processing it. I also had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. (Dec 2012)
The only thing I want to say is that grief needs a place to settle, but it takes time, and I'm realizing that myself. Talk a lot with your partner and let yourself feel.
Sending you lots of strength, girl!!

Thanks. Yes, it's such an overwhelming feeling. I hope the toughest days are behind you soon. Even though I'll still think about it a lot, because no pregnancy can just be enjoyed normally anymore. Or maybe I'm just thinking that. Also, strength to you both, unfortunately, things don't always go smoothly.

Yeah, I guess a next pregnancy will definitely feel twice as stressful for me until week 9 now. (since it went wrong last time)
My doctor said that if I get pregnant again, I'll get an ultrasound earlier, around 6.5 or 7 weeks, to see if there's a heartbeat. Earlier than that doesn't make sense. So yeah, I think what you're saying is true. I hope that seeing a good ultrasound with a beating heart will help your confidence in having a healthy pregnancy grow, and that you'll be able to enjoy it then.

Yeah, I was already under control because of my very irregular cycle, so I had an ultrasound at 4 weeks, everything was fine. At 6 weeks too, and I saw a beating heart and everything was fine again. Two weeks later, at 8 weeks, that's when they saw that it had stopped. I had no reason to think something was wrong. But we do have to trust. It won't always be easy. And whether we have checks or not, if something goes wrong, there's nothing they can do. Hopefully, it was just a one-time unlucky coincidence and next time we can bring a healthy baby into the world, right?

Yeah, we have to stay positive about it. And I hope you're with me. If you like sharing and chatting with other girls, I've started a topic about who's joining in from February. Maybe you'd like it.
