According to the midwife, shorter pregnancy.

3 weeks ago I took a pregnancy test. And luckily it was positive. The Clearblue week indicator showed 2-3 weeks. Yesterday I had an ultrasound. And according to the midwife, I'm just 5 and a half weeks. I personally find it very weird, because then I should have been able to test at 2 weeks. I mentioned this, but the midwife said she couldn't change it anymore. I don't feel so good about it now. Does anyone recognize this?????

Hi Mechje, I can totally imagine that you're not feeling reassured right now. I don't have any experience with this. Can you come back for an extra check-up soon? Fingers crossed, hopefully everything's okay!

My midwife also said I was a week less pregnant than I thought. Or it's impossible, because when I went back to calculate, I would have had to have been conceived on the Immaculate Conception :-s At the dating scan at the hospital (at ten weeks) it matched exactly to the day! So I wouldn't worry too much about it. (my midwife even saw only one baby on two scans, while there are definitely two babies, I mean... their equipment isn't as good as the hospital's)

I was also 2 weeks behind according to the first ultrasound. But by the later scans, those 2 weeks had already been added back in, so don't stress too much. I have the feeling they just tend to give shorter estimates as a standard thing or something. It'll be fine for sure!

Thank you all for your responses. I think I should worry less and just keep following my gut.

I’d also be pregnant for a shorter time here than what we calculated based on my cycle. Seems like they do that by default, indeed.

My GP said I was 7.5 weeks... 2 weeks later I had an ultrasound with the midwife and she said 6 weeks and 3 days... But she did mention that we shouldn't read too much into it, because at 12 weeks they'll be able to tell us more, so I'm just going to wait and see... Personally, I feel like I'm at 8 weeks now... But we'll see...

    Best, Ilona

I thought I'd be shorter than I actually am...
In 2 weeks I have the next ultrasound, so then we'll see :-)
