Hi everyone,

Is there a midwife I can ask a question to? Preferably somewhere private, but if that's not possible, somewhere else? How can I do that? I have a few questions.

And you think a midwife is going to come to a forum to answer your questions?

Oh, I see it now. You're the one who asks the same dumb question 100 times.

I see that you're already pregnant, so why don't you ask your own midwife if I may ask?

    Evira
She probably has her reasons for being here...
Why always judge so quickly? She asks a question, and it matters to her who she asks it to, right?

And anonymous—there are no stupid questions, only dumb answers

@laura first of all, of course, heartfelt congratulations on your pregnancy That's not what I meant at all! Of course, I don't mind who you ask your questions to. I mean more that you can ask everything to your own midwife, right? They're there to support you during your pregnancy. Sorry if that came across that way, because there really are no stupid questions

The question of whether you could be around 20 weeks pregnant from an ex-partner from over 1.5 years ago is indeed totally logical. Luckily, not many people have replied to the 100 open topics with the same question, saying it's not possible.

Yeah, and a lot of people replied saying it’s not possible. But I still had follow-up questions that I didn’t understand. Like: does it not matter that after I stopped the pill I didn’t have any bleeding—not even a withdrawal bleed—and then went a very long time without a period? And that I got pregnant without having any periods at all. So my body wasn’t “cleansed” of dead sperm. And the last time I had sex with my ex-partner, nothing dripped out of my vagina either. Is it also not a problem if it’s stuck in there or something?

@laura hormones can do some weird things to you, which we all know, even though you know it shouldn't really be possible.

But to get back to your second question, which I don't find strange at all since you come across this question a lot.

You can get pregnant after stopping the pill without having a period first, because you're fertile before your period.

So if you got pregnant right after stopping the pill, meaning in cycle 1, you wouldn't have had a period yet, do you get it?
  9. Wondertje3 #10

@laura sperm cells only live for a few days, so that's really impossible you don't feel or see sperm cells leaving your body
  10. laura started this #11

@wondertje3 I get it, but it goes away with menstruation and I haven't had one, not even a fake period. I always took the pill. So what if it was still in there and was activated by the sperm from my current partner? Because normally when you have sex, sperm drips out of your vagina, but with my ex-partner, that didn't happen the last time either.
  11. Wondertje3 #12

@laura I'm @elvira. I get your point, but after a few days they die off and disappear invisibly from your body With your period, they're already dead and gone because your period is only 2 weeks later and sperm only live for a few days.
  12. laura started this #13

Oh, that explains it haha ok. Period 2 weeks later? I didn't have a period. And when I stopped the pill, I didn't even get a withdrawal bleed or anything. So you don't need a withdrawal bleed or period for them to go away? And it doesn't matter that I last had sex with my ex-partner, even if nothing came out then? That it's stuck or something?
  13. Wondertje3 #14

@laura no, sperm cells disappear after a few days, so not just with a period. And it doesn't matter if nothing leaks out after sex; they still disappear on their own after a few days, unnoticed. After a few days, there are no sperm cells left
  14. laura started this #15

Aww, thank you for taking the time. Do you know why I didn't get a withdrawal bleed when I stopped the pill? I really thought I'd have to have it to "cleanse" my body haha. But yeah, all this stress over nothing. What a stress.
  15. Wondertje3 #16

@laura after stopping the pill, you don't always have to get a withdrawal bleed. It usually happens, but it's not always guaranteed, so it's totally normal

So, having sex with an ex-partner and current partner, and having 0 times bleeding and 0 times a period, doesn't matter at all? It has nothing to do with old sperm cells, right? I'll just enjoy it then.
  17. Wondertje3 #18

@laura no, sperm cells don't disappear with the blood, but a few days after ejaculation already
  18. laura started this #19

Okay, thanks. But suppose it did stick, wouldn't it still not be able to become active again due to other sperm cells, right?
Because I read this: When you talk about semen, sperm cells, and fluid that comes out during ejaculation, semen has a certain lifespan in the female body, this varies from 7 days to 72 hours. The sperm cells from the semen will therefore remain the strongest if you bring in a new fresh load of semen every 72 hours.

Especially the last sentence, do the old ones remain the strongest because you bring in a new load?
  19. Wondertje3 #20

@laura after a few days everything is gone so it's impossible that it's still there. after those 72 hours the old sperm cells die off and make room for the new sperm cells
