Terrible itching

CarolienGuest ·
A little ailment I've gotten since week 17 is a terrible itch all over my body. It started on my upper thighs (with a rash) and now that it's better there, it's started itching everywhere else (without a rash). It always starts in the evening and goes on until morning. Sleeping becomes very difficult because of this. I've tried different oils and ointments as well as adjusted allergy medication. Both my GP and midwife have no idea. Anyone else had this before? I need help!

No idea what it could be. But heat often worsens itching, so you'll probably feel more itchy in a warm bed than during the day when your attention is distracted. A more breathable pajama or refreshing yourself with a cold washcloth might bring some relief.

I totally recognize the itching from my pregnancies.

I'm going to try menthol gel. Just start carefully with thin layers. I went crazy from the itch and applied way too much. Not long after, I was standing under the shower .

Cold compresses and a refreshing shower also worked wonders. No itching under your nails?

No, luckily not under my nails! I've tried many ointments already, but haven't tried menthol gel yet, so that's a good tip! A fresh shower does help, but it's hard to shower at night, right??? I've tried 4 types of pajamas, but without the itching, indeed the least irritating. It's just weird that even doctors don't know what to do about it.
