Tummy is getting less tight

Hi everyone,
I actually have a question here. My girlfriend is currently almost 10 weeks pregnant. Her belly was really swollen and hard at first. Now it's becoming soft again. We won't get the dating scan until January 22. Does anyone here have experience with this?
Best, Remco

    Hi Remco,
That hard and puffy feeling was probably your baby's intestines. They often react to the hormone progesterone. Nothing to worry about; in a few weeks, the real belly will start to show... enjoy this special time together!

    Thank you so much, Joyce2021,
It did seem like something like that to us, but after last year's miscarriage, you start to worry anyway. She also didn't want to call the midwife here. ????

Your belly is going to change a lot more.

Don't jump into stress right away, okay? Although I totally get it. (Had 3 miscarriages) As long as she doesn't have severe cramps or bleeding, just enjoy the moment.

On average, around 12 weeks the top of your uterus will be just above your pubic bone, and by about 16 weeks it’ll be roughly halfway to your navel. That’s when you’ll really start to see your bump You can always call your midwife with questions—she’ll always have an answer for you, so definitely do! After all, that’s what they’re there for
