Pregnant?

I stopped the pill 7 months ago, and since then I've had an irregular cycle. However, there's already been an 8-week gap between now and my last period. It's never been this long before. Tests have been negative so far, but I'm experiencing nausea, tender breasts, and abdominal cramps. Could I still be pregnant?

There's only one way to get an answer to that... testing.

    Sure, let's do a test.

If your urine tests are negative, I’d suggest getting a blood test with an hCG measurement done.

Tests have been negative so far, I test about every three days. Tomorrow I'll test again. Meanwhile, I'm almost 9 weeks since my last period, so I keep crossing my fingers and hoping.

Then a test should really show positive by now, because theoretically you should already be 13 weeks pregnant...

Then I'd get an ultrasound done.

Sunday’s test was negative again. It’s tricky to figure out when to take the test now since I’m currently working night shifts. With my irregular cycle, it’s not definite that I’m already 13 weeks pregnant. That’s what makes it so difficult. I think I’ll check this week to see if my HCG levels can be tested in my blood and if they’re elevated.

Definitely get a blood test done. That gives the most clarity right now.

The GP was a bit difficult about the blood test, but I just did a test and there was a very faint line on it. Because I couldn't believe it, I did two more tests, and all three had a faint line. So even though it's probably still very early, I'm probably pregnant and my gut feeling was right. ????

Wow, that's amazing. Let's see how he's doing!

I thought I'd let you know a bit later, but as far as I know, I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant by now. It's going really well so far. The test turned out very clear after the faint lines! We're planning to have our first ultrasound on New Year's Eve.

    Exciting, good luck, and congratulations!
