Hi fellow expectant moms.
After 16 months, we finally got to have a baby. We went through a fertility treatment but somehow managed to get pregnant naturally.
For the past 1.5 years, sex had become more of a chore rather than just fun. The joy was a bit lost but luckily we could always talk about it and it worked out.
I find this pregnancy, I'm 7 weeks now, heavier than the first one. I'm extremely nauseous and tired in the mornings and from the afternoon onwards.
Because of this, there's been less cuddling and intimacy lately. I don't want anyone close to me right now, I'm just dealing with my own body and feeling awful. For my husband, I feel terrible because physically nothing changes for him but his needs are still there. We talk about it and he says it'll come back naturally soon but I feel so guilty about it. I prefer to go to bed early and am completely overwhelmed by feeling down.
Of course, I'd love to talk about it but I also feel bad for putting him on hold.
Do you relate to this and how did you handle it?
Maybe reading others' experiences will help me feel a bit calmer.

Hi Ingrid! Your desire for sex and intimacy can change throughout your pregnancy, just so you know. You might not feel like dealing with all the hassle on your body, but can you still bring yourself to pleasure him? We mostly solved that by me giving him oral sex or satisfying him with my hand. I didn't really mind that, I just didn't have much desire for things involving me. But my husband did need to blow off some steam now and then. After the first trimester, he could really get back to it!! Is that a solution for you?

Hi Ingrid, congratulations on the baby! It's tough that your man is pulling away, especially after such a difficult conception. Pregnancy is a huge upheaval for him too, not just for you. Maybe he'll shake off the shock soon. Talk openly about what you need. Are you unsure about the dynamic? A consultation with your midwife could help you discuss this together. Lots of strength.
