I also had an amniocentesis, when I was 22 weeks. That's indeed really scary. But the risk of miscarriage was 1 in 600. The chance that my baby had something wrong was 4 in 100. So I took the risk. I did have it done at a specialized hospital though. Because at my own hospital, the risk of miscarriage was 1 in 200...
