13 weeks and 5 days of bleeding

Dear readers,
I have a question about bleeding after 13 weeks. My pregnancy had been going well until yesterday. Out of nowhere, blood suddenly started flowing into my underwear. It wasn't a lot, but it was bright red. I was so startled by it (since I've had 4 miscarriages before) that I called my midwife. I was told to go straight to the hospital. They did a good ultrasound, and the doctor couldn't explain the bleeding. I just have to wait and see. That evening I had some light bleeding, and this morning it turned into light pink discharge until the afternoon. Now it's orange, mucus-like discharge. I'm experiencing a sort of muscle ache feeling in my lower abdomen. I also feel that my uterus feels hard in my belly. Does that mean things are going well or not? I called my midwife again, but I have to wait 3 more days because my next appointment is scheduled then. Who can advise me?

    Hi Hanna,
That must have been quite a shock. Glad you had a good ultrasound after the bleeding.
Now waiting 3 days for the next scan. Let us know how it went. And we’re all rooting for you that this one will be beautiful too.
    Love,
    Starz

    Thank you, Starz,
This morning I lost some blood while urinating. It was bright red again. The bleeding was supposed to have stopped, but it hasn’t. I immediately called the midwife, and we’re going for another ultrasound today.
On top of that, I’m really busy at my temporary new job, which is making me feel very uncertain and stressed. Today I have an interview there to see if I can stay on.
    Can stress also cause bleeding?
    Best, Hanna

Do you have any other cramps along with the bleeding? I don't have any experience with this myself, but I've seen quite a few stories from women who also had unexplained bleeding and where everything turned out fine.
I really hope that's the case for you too and that everything is okay. Good thing you're getting an ultrasound today.
And then there's your new job and the interview. It's well known that stress isn't good, but I wouldn't dare say whether it can actually cause bleeding.

I waited a long time at the hospital. The doctor was busy with another operation. Luckily, I did get the ultrasound. Everything is going well with the baby. A good beating heart and it was moving nicely too. As for the bleeding, they can't explain it at the moment. The doctor took swabs for culture. There's no bladder infection, and the only thing she noticed is that I have a sensitive cervix that bleeds easily. She explained that the inside of the uterus in some pregnant women protrudes a bit, which increases the risk of bleeding and infections. In two weeks, I have to come back to the hospital. I'll stay under hospital supervision until 20 weeks.
On one hand, I'm happy that our little sprout is doing well, but on the other hand, I'm worried about how the bleeding progresses. Together, it gives me a huge sense of uncertainty.

That's great news about the ultrasound!
I understand you're worried, but I hope you can find some comfort in having two nice ultrasounds despite the bleeding.
    Wishing you all the best!

    Thank you!
Even though I’ve had two good ultrasounds, the uncertainty remains as long as there’s bleeding and mild abdominal pain. I’m keeping the faith that things will be okay with our little one!
