Pregnant but still experiencing bleeding

Hi,

My partner and I recently decided to try for a baby. After round 1, we had a negative pregnancy test, followed by a period 12 days later (much lighter than usual). Since I usually have quite long and heavy periods, I went to see my GP. They referred me to a gynecologist and took a blood test to rule out any clotting disorders. The GP just called me. According to my hCG levels, I am in the 4th week of pregnancy.

I'm completely confused. I did lose some blood. Did I have a miscarriage? Or can I still be pregnant? Is it even worth taking a pregnancy test?

I'm having my blood drawn again at the GP on Monday. I called the gynecologist, and they will call me back if they can fit me in.

You can just have bleeding in the early stages of your pregnancy. Seeing your story and the test, I’d like to congratulate you warmly. Should you get your blood drawn again in a few days to check if the hCG level has risen?
    Exciting, girl!

Oops, I didn't read properly regarding the blood test.
    Will you keep me updated?

Wow, after 12 days of light period/bleeding, you definitely don't expect that at all. Beautiful test, very clear. I'm just curious how far along you actually are—if you're counting 4 weeks + 12 days, you're almost 6 weeks. You'd almost expect the bleeding to have started around implantation or something. Congratulations!!

I just went to the gynecologist to get a prescription for Utrogestan. I can go for an ultrasound on Monday. They will also check if the pregnancy is actually in the uterus.
I'm also curious how far along I'll be. I have a very long cycle (34-37 days). So it's hard to determine based on my cycle. I thought I felt ovulation on August 21st, but I'm not entirely sure. If I assume that, I'm now 2w2d + the 2 'extra' weeks = 4w2d.

    Exciting!
    Congratulations!
I also had light bleeding with my daughter. Because it was old blood, I took a test.
Hopefully, you'll know more on Monday!

    Thanks for your replies!
The bleeding seemed to have stopped yesterday, but now it’s back and heavier????. Scared to wait and see.

    Greetings

Just been to the gynecologist. Nothing to see on the ultrasound except some old blood. According to him, it's a miscarriage. Still waiting for the blood test results, but he was pretty sure.

Oh my goodness! Have you gotten the blood test results yet?

The blood results were actually good! It’s been a real emotional rollercoaster here. Had another blood test on Friday and the hCG is still rising nicely as it should.
I’ve got a new appointment with my gynecologist (my regular one), but that’s still over a week away..
It’s still a bit stressful. My previous gynecologist only saw two options: miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. But I’m still pretty hopeful. The bleeding has stopped. I feel pregnant and well.
    Xx

Lore, I hope you get good news!
I had light bleeding with my daughter. And then bleeding until 15 weeks. Old blood, pink blood and bright red blood, even once with clots. They never found out where the bleeding came from, and after 15 weeks of pregnancy it never happened again, and I have a beautiful, healthy daughter

Had my ultrasound today and everything looked good! According to the OB, it's just implantation bleeding. We're expecting our little one in May????

    What amazing news!

Congratulations! I had that with my second one too. Bleeding at 5 weeks pregnant. It looked like it might be a miscarriage, they sent us home to wait and see. But now I have a healthy daughter who's already 9!
