Pregnant right after a miscarriage

Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced getting pregnant right away after a miscarriage?
On July 14th, I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. The gynecologist said it was best to wait for a first period before trying again.

Was that also recommended to you?

    Hi Jacquelien,
First of all, so sorry for your miscarriage!
I also had a miscarriage for both pregnancies. The first time, the OB-GYN said it's often advised to wait a cycle because that gives you a fresh starting point for your cycle: you can start counting again from your first period after the miscarriage. If you get pregnant right away, you don't know exactly how far along you are. Besides that, there's no scientific reason to wait. Once your body is ready again, you'll ovulate. So we didn't wait either time, because the desire for a child didn't diminish, and with an ultrasound they can see how far along you are.

We were lucky that I got pregnant right away after the first miscarriage (daughter 1) and after two cycles after the second miscarriage (daughter 2)

Do what feels right for you guys : if you want to wait, wait, and continue again when you're ready. If you want to go ahead right away? Then do that .
Strength and hopefully you'll have a good one soon!

I had to take one pill after my D&C on July 5th. I was 9.5 weeks pregnant when the heartbeat stopped and the miscarriage didn't start on its own, so I had a D&C. So now I can start again. This should give the uterine lining time to thicken up.

I really wanted to try getting pregnant right away, but my gynecologist said it's better for your body to wait a bit.

    Good luck!!

I had a D&C after 13 weeks of pregnancy. Got pregnant right away after that. Didn't have to wait. We went for it right away too, but more like: if it works out, great, and if not, it'll happen naturally. Eventually, my body was ready after 6 months (after 4 months I thought it was taking too long because I got pregnant right away in my other pregnancies).

Now luckily almost 17 weeks pregnant. I think it's different for everyone when you're fully recovered and ready for a new pregnancy. I think your emotional state also plays a role. I'd also say: when you're ready, go for it.

I had to wait one round too. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, and without medication, the miscarriage completed on its own.

Hmm, as I mentioned above, I had to wait for a round and then take a pill to thicken the cervical mucus. But now I suddenly have pink discharge, which I also had when I was pregnant last time. But since I don't have a clear view of my cycle right now, I'm not sure what to think... Just wait and see, right?

My midwife advised me to wait a bit. At the check-up with the gynecologist, everything was fine, and she said we didn't need to wait. As she pointed out, it's indeed about the fact that they might find it harder to calculate how far along you are if you wait.

I just had to wait for the follow-up after my curettage in November. They thought it was a partial molar pregnancy. But after tests and at the follow-up, it turned out it wasn't, and everything was fine. They said there was no reason to wait back then. Both the gynecologist and midwife told me this.

I also had a miscarriage at 6 weeks pregnant. The midwife said there was no medical reason to wait. We didn't wait either. I got pregnant again right away with a healthy girl who is now three.

Hey, just as an addition: I would already be pregnant again now, 5-6 weeks. Hard to say because my cycle is unknown. So I got pregnant again right away

    Good luck to everyone!
