Bloedverlies

Hi ladies,

I've been reading along for a while. I'm 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant with our third baby.
Had some spotting at 6/7 weeks, then again at 7/8 weeks. After that, nothing much when wiping. Had a lovely holiday and we're coming back Sunday when bleeding started again, bright red, like the start of a period. Monday had an ultrasound, everything was fine. At 9 weeks pregnant, everything looked good. The GP advised to have the cervix checked.
Did that on Tuesday, the cervix was irritated (I was still bleeding), had a smear test done. And was referred to the gynecologist, maybe she could see more.
Went to the gynecologist yesterday. The bleeding had stopped. Everything was perfect. No hematoma visible, baby growing well, moving nicely, heartbeat etc. No cause found unfortunately. Probably just a sensitive cervix. Advice: don't lift heavy things etc.
Yesterday around 8 PM, whoops, bleeding again. Still bright red bleeding now. It's driving me crazy! This isn't enjoyable at all. When will this stop? It makes me feel insecure. Etc etc. I'm not looking for stories about whether things went well or not. The fact remains that bleeding shouldn't happen and I see it as a 50/50 chance. I just want to vent my heart a bit. Just when we were about to tell people, this drama keeps happening.
And asking for another ultrasound now feels excessive to me.

According to the NVOG (Dutch Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology), bleeding in the first trimester leads to a miscarriage in 50% of cases.

What does vaginal bleeding mean in early pregnancy?
Bleeding in the first months of pregnancy can have various causes. Often, the bleeding is harmless and stops on its own. In half of the cases of bleeding in the first months of pregnancy, it results in a miscarriage. This is usually accompanied by menstrual-like or labor-like pain.

If everything is okay with the baby, you're probably among the 50% who experience bleeding but do not have a miscarriage.

Hi, I just had the same thing... until 16 weeks! You'll be fine in the end

Thank you Jenire, I wouldn't have seen it like that.
Stef, you really lost a lot of blood, how did you manage to get through it without going crazy?

I had it too, up to about 15 weeks, just like Stef. I was also examined by a gynecologist. In week 14, a neglected urinary tract infection was found. I don't know if all my bleeding came from that, but maybe it's worth getting tested? I often get UTIs and always get sick from them, and this time I didn't even notice anything.
I totally get you, I was going crazy and feeling so down too!

    Thanks, sweet.
It would’ve been nice to have a cause instead of this now. But it’s good that it seems to stop eventually. I stay positive too, otherwise you don’t have a life. But it’s really not fun. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you always keep in mind that something could go wrong.
I already told my husband I’ll get that AngelSound thing or something similar once we’re at the point where you can hear the baby’s heartbeat at home. Then you can at least check if the little one is still alive. Maybe it’ll also calm your mind a bit. I don’t know what to do exactly. Hope the bleeding stops soon.

I totally get that. I always called for an extra scan if it really got too much for me. I had two miscarriages before my daughter, so they understood. Still, I did let slip that I hoped they wouldn't think I was being a nag or overly dramatic. But they were always so sweet in response.
I also mentioned wanting to buy an angel sound device, but they advised against it. They weren't sure if the baby could get stressed by it or something like that. They said they'd rather I just came in. So maybe you should ask your midwife about it.
