I think your GP might have made a mistake? My level was 597, which corresponded to about three days overdue (5 weeks pregnant)... HCG levels vary anyway, but according to the chart I found, the threshold for six weeks starts at over 1000.
If the HCG levels are rising well, I'd try not to worry too much, although I know that's easier said than done!
