Utrogestan early pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I had a quick question. I had a miscarriage in late September at 7 weeks. After that, I continued trying, but my periods kept coming 3-4 days early, and I’d get pink spotting a week after ovulation. I finally went to the gynecologist about this. She took my blood to check my progesterone levels. If it was below 15, I was supposed to take 200mg of Utrogestan every night. Well, I got lucky and got pregnant right away. I got my blood results (8.5 progesterone) 7-8 days after ovulation, started taking Utrogestan, and a little over a week later I had a positive test. Of course, with a worried heart. Since I found out, I’ve been taking 2x200mg Utrogestan. One in the morning (vaginally) and one in the evening (orally). Now my blood was checked for HCG and also for progesterone. My progesterone level was 8.6. So it only rose by 0.1. After all this explanation, my question is whether Utrogestan actually gets into your bloodstream, or if it just stays in the uterus? It feels weird that I’m taking Utrogestan, but my blood levels aren’t rising. Or do your blood levels not rise due to Utrogestan? Hope the question is clear enough. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I don't know if it really increases , but it certainly ensures that your uterine lining stays thick, which helps the embryo implant better! I had to insert 200mg vaginally 3 times a day after my ICSI treatment. But I also got it because otherwise I'd have brown spotting every week after ovulation until I got my period. After starting it, that stopped right away. Should you keep using it now? I'd just keep doing it since it can't do any harm, except for being a bit messy ;-) Even if it doesn't increase , your lining is thick enough to keep it in place ;-)
    Good luck!
