Placenta detachment

Hi everyone,

I’m curious to hear stories from people who’ve also experienced a partial placental abruption. I gave birth to my daughter at 33 weeks due to a partial abruption. Luckily, she’s doing well now after some initial struggles.

Now I’m pregnant with our second child and I’m 31 weeks along... I find myself thinking about it more because the chance of it happening again is higher than for someone who hasn’t experienced it before. So my question is: are there any here who’ve had this happen again? The statistics are a bit vague—I think it’s around a 5% chance of recurrence.

Looking forward to your replies!

Best wishes

Wow, that sounds really intense. Did you also have bleeding before it happened? No reason was ever given for me, just bad luck... my blood pressure was also a bit on the high side. Now I'm obviously being monitored extra closely. Is this your only pregnancy?

Lin. That's so awful to read. It really shocks me here. Something like that should never happen...

no, absolutely nothing, no blood, only that I couldn't feel my little girl anymore. I kept insisting it wasn't right, had ultrasounds and they said they couldn't see anything. In the end, my placenta detached due to a small blood clot, and they can't see that. They kept insisting.

that's right, it definitely shouldn't have happened. It's the worst thing a mother can go through, and then such a mistake. You can keep insisting, but the hospital always wins in the end, even if it was a few years ago. Sometimes I still wonder why, why... but luckily she's with me every day.
