Bleeding, still pregnant?

Hi everyone,
I am/was 6 weeks pregnant via IVF today. I had a miscarriage in June which we had to induce ourselves with pills; when we went for an ultrasound at 7.5 weeks, they found no embryo.
Yesterday I lost quite a bit of blood with clots! It was really bright red but watery compared to a period. So yesterday I was 100% sure it was a miscarriage. But the bleeding stopped after 3 hours and now there's only a little brown discharge when wiping.
Yes, of course everyone says I should call, but I did and no one wants to check! Not the fertility department I'm under care of, nor the midwife practice, because they're both afraid it's too early and they won't see a heartbeat anyway, so that brings uncertainty. The midwife said yes, it does sound like a miscarriage, and the fertility department says no, you've really lost very little blood for that.

Sorry for my long story, but are there people who have experienced this too? Both positive and negative stories? Because I'm sober enough to think it's not good!

Thanks in advance!

From what I can read, you've already been through a lot. I had a miscarriage in December at 6.5 weeks and another one in May at 11 weeks.

With my 6-week miscarriage, I lost a huge amount of blood and clots, including some large ones where I had to push lightly and briefly. This lasted about 24 hours, followed by another 8 days of bleeding that gradually decreased.

    At 11 weeks, I had a D&C.

Your story is so hard because everyone experiences it differently. I find it strange that no one is giving you any reassurance. At 6 weeks, you should be able to see something. If you've been bleeding for 3 hours, it could still turn out okay, but the bright red blood and clots sound less positive. It's so tough!

I just want to let you know that I'm pregnant again now, at 13 weeks, and have had very good ultrasounds. So it does work out in the end! Wishing you lots of strength and courage with this.

Thank you for sharing your story! Yes, it’s all really tough, but we have to stay realistic! Yeah, we’ve been through a lot indeed! Last time I even had to push on the toilet! Way more clots than now!
It’ll all be fine, but when will it ever end, huh?!?!
I still have 16 cryos, so I can keep going, but yeah, you really don’t want that many more transfers!

    Wishing you a happy pregnancy!
I’ll know more on Wednesday, but that’s still so far away!!

That's really tough! I've had different experiences with bleeding. With my oldest (now 15), I lost quite a bit of blood at around 7 weeks. Coincidentally, I was just at the toilet and saw a lot of blood in the bowl. The next day I had an ultrasound, and everything was fine. With my daughter (12), there was no bleeding. With my current partner, I had a miscarriage last November, and after a few days, I had bleeding—not excessively heavy, but it kept going. My tests weren't rising anymore either. Then in December, I got pregnant again, and she's now 6 weeks. I had bleeding at 12 dpo. I thought it was another miscarriage, but at around 6 weeks, I had an ultrasound where there was a baby, but the heartbeat was very hard to see. A week later, it was very clear. I've never had blood clots though. I really hope you get some clarity soon because it's hard to enjoy anything right now.

I had a miscarriage at 5.5 weeks and I really had severe cramps and a lot of bleeding with clots over several days. I found it similar to very heavy periods except that I also really had pain everywhere...

Well girls, luckily everything was fine! The heartbeat was there and had a nice rhythm! So I'm relieved and now just have to get through the critical period! But for now, it's really nice!

That's so nice that everything is okay! Enjoy it, because it goes by so fast, you know.
