Factor V Leiden

Hi ladies,
Since my grandma has the hereditary clotting disorder Factor V Leiden, I’m getting tested for it too. I’ve been looking around online and stuff, but I keep reading all sorts of different things. My question is whether anyone here has it, how it affects you, and if you need to take medication or something during pregnancy. Thanks in advance!

Check! I have Factor V Leiden. It depends on whether you're heterozygous or homozygous what the treatment during and after pregnancy is. And it varies a lot per doctor. For example, I know that I need to inject blood thinners after giving birth. I've never had a blood clot, so that's the advice I got. But another doctor also said to inject throughout the whole pregnancy... yeah, it's very dependent on your doctor and situation. It's important to mention if you know you have it.

I only found out about this yesterday too. I’ve had to inject Fraxiparine into my belly throughout the whole pregnancy and take one tablet a day. This is because I had three miscarriages in a row. I’m pregnant now, so hopefully it works!
