Forum Pregnant and working

25 weeks. No more work.

I've always worked in hospitality, and around 22 weeks I started having pelvic pain. Unfortunately, I no longer have a job; the boss needed certainty, so he didn't renew the contract. So now I'm at home with a 25+2 week pregnancy. I'd really like to keep working! I've been applying everywhere and calling all temp agencies... because I can definitely still work, just not 40 hours anymore. But less than that is fine. But nobody wants to hire me... what should I do? Just sit at home for 15 weeks now... (which I really don't want to do.) Financially it's not a problem. But I hadn't planned on being at home this early. ????

If you plan to keep working until 34 weeks, you could still work for about 8 weeks, provided you find something now. Assuming the chance of finding a job gets smaller each week because the time left is shrinking and you might have more symptoms, which could increase the likelihood of going on sick leave, I think the chance of finding work is very slim. It's really unfortunate, but if it doesn't cause financial problems, I'd say just accept it. Of course, you can keep applying, but otherwise, enjoy the time you can take for yourself. Maternity leave starts 6 or 4 weeks before the due date... You're not working until 40 weeks, right? Because you mentioned 15 weeks of stay-at-home time?

I've called your office! And I can work until 36 weeks. And luckily, I've already received a temporary job offer. I can start next week. I understand your reaction, but I'm in good shape, so I'd really like to keep working for a bit more.
