Baby 2 weeks old won't sleep alone during the day

My son, now 2 weeks old, doesn't want to sleep or lie in his crib during the day. He falls asleep in my arms, and when I gently put him in the crib, he wakes up after at most 15 minutes. Are there other moms dealing with this? I can't carry him around all day.

pushing through and letting it lie is better, just put him in his crib for a bit so you can do your own thing in the room?

Hi Yentje, I've had the same thing, but I just enjoyed it and slept tummy-to-tummy.. In the evenings he did sleep normally in his own crib, so that helped. It's annoying because you don't have your hands free, but believe me, it gets better. My baby is now four months old and for about two months now he sleeps during the day in our bed and at night in his crib, and it's going well! He doesn't even want to be held anymore now. He wriggles around for so long until I put him down and he falls asleep nicely!

I'd try swaddling if you're not already doing that; it helped with my little one.

Swaddling with this weather is a bit too hot. I'll just keep trying a few things, and I'm sure it'll work out fine once it's a bit cooler. I think I'll start swaddling then if it's still like that. Thanks, girls!

You can use a very thin blanket, and then just a romper underneath or just a diaper.

I had the same 'problem'. I felt like she lived on my arm It was like that for about 2-3 months. Then I really started practicing putting her in the park, just standing over her for a long time, looking back 100 times but not picking her up. She almost didn't sleep during the day for a week and then fell asleep there on her own.

Even though it seems like you're carrying the baby all day long, and you really want to do something else. Please enjoy it. My daughter is 6 months now and doesn't want to cuddle anymore I already miss that flat baby on my arm!

My little one is also almost 6 months old. He has his moments of cuddling. More often pulling hair etc hahaha.

@Proud_mommy: Haha! I have a little sweaty beast who is ALWAYS warm so she prefers to be as uncovered as possible when she gets a bit excited, that hair pulling comes into play too! Or when she's lying next to us in bed and sees that we have our eyes closed, she'll happily start slapping around or squeezing with her little hands to get them open again Kicking her feet high in the air and letting them drop on our faces has also proven to be an effective method

Could buying a baby carrier be a solution? Baby sleeps comfortably with you, and you have your hands free.
What was an eye-opener for me was the comment that your baby has been with you for 9 months and now suddenly has to do it alone in a completely new environment. They really want to be with you; they're used to it. And honestly, by the time they're 3-4 months old, it's really not like that anymore. I was going crazy during those first weeks and thought I'd never get my life back, but really, things will get better!

Hahaha HWGA best cute hahahaha. He also closes his eyes when we do, or he throws his little legs up in the air and sucks on his big toe hahahaha

Hey Yentje, we just had the exact same problem with our little girl. I tried everything. First, the pediatrician turned her completely inside out so we were sure she was physically OK. I usually used a baby wrap. And in the stroller, I used a swaddle blanket. That helped for a while. We quickly switched to fixed sleep times in her own crib where it was dark. I didn't let her cry it out during the first 2 months.
In the end, things got better during the day with such a routine. Our nights, on the other hand, remained a drama... She only wanted to be rocked. Standing still was not an option... so I started looking for a nice rocking chair. I eventually found one, super comfortable and stylish Rocking Seats. No matter how hard it was, I could enjoy being together with her this way. In the early evening rocking in the living room in front of the TV and later in the bedroom. This phase will pass, so just keep going. And don't forget to enjoy those close moments! Before you know it, they're big..
    Good luck!
