Vanishing twin and NIPT

Hi everyone,

I'm now 14w+4d pregnant. After a lot of hesitation, and mainly because my partner really wanted it, I went ahead and had a NIPT test done yesterday.

Has anyone here had a NIPT test after experiencing a vanishing twin? I happened to read everywhere online that this can cause a false positive result. Now I'm even more worried...

Any experiences would be great to hear.

Thanks!

Best,

Was it a one-egg or two-egg twin? With two-egg twins, it's indeed possible that a test doesn't match up. With one-egg twins, a NIPT test does work, since these babies share 96% of the same DNA, as I've been told. But I don't know how it works with a vanishing twin. If you want to be sure, just ask your midwife or gynecologist.
