Pregnant and working
Pregnant and sick at home
mieke1985
Hi ladies,
Currently I'm 13 weeks pregnant and absolutely thrilled about it! This is my second pregnancy. However, since week 8 I've been bedridden due to illness. I'm extremely nauseous and vomiting, feel incredibly weak, and can't do much. From that point on, I was signed off sick at work. This isn't new for me. During my first pregnancy, it was exactly the same, and I ended up in the hospital due to dehydration. They told me I had hyperemesis gravidarum, which means extreme nausea. Back then, there was a lot of misunderstanding from my colleagues. They felt let down, etc. I understand that having a sick employee isn't fun for them, but I also didn't ask for this nausea. Some colleagues looked down on me. Because of this, I don't even dare to say I'm pregnant now (my manager is aware). Those unsympathetic reactions make me sad. On the other hand, I'm very happy with this pregnancy and don't want it to be influenced by negative reactions. Are there more ladies in the same situation?
