Hi, I'm currently exactly 2 days late. My period always comes regularly within a 23 to 28-day cycle. Yesterday was the last day my period should have started.
A week ago, I already had the feeling that I should test myself before going to barbecue with friends. My breasts had been a bit sensitive for days, sometimes small cramps or an uneasy feeling in my stomach. And I wouldn't have forgiven myself if I had drunk alcohol while noticing these small signs. Somewhere in my mind I thought... Just test. Then you'll be sure whether you can have a glass of wine or not.
So that same evening I tested with a Clearblue, and it showed +2/3 weeks within 3 minutes!!
Now my question is whether this is exceptional, because it's quite early overall? My period could start in a few days. How reliable is this test at such an early stage?
The only thing the pharmacy could tell me was... If you test positive so early and not even with morning urine, then assume you're pregnant.
And the GP wants to take blood ASAP? In my opinion, everything is moving too fast. I always had the feeling that if we ever wanted to get pregnant, it would be difficult. In my head, I'd already been thinking about going to a gynecologist to confirm this feeling. I was already considering saving money for IVF in the future. I think I had already protected myself against disappointment in the future. Nothing in my life just comes blowing in... So time caught up with us at the moment a + appeared.
Does anyone else here have experience with this that they'd like to share with me?

I think you might be further along in your pregnancy than you realize... if Clearblue says 2+3 weeks, you're probably already about 5 weeks pregnant.
I'd also just go to your GP to get a blood test.
See? Sometimes things work out in your favor, huh! Congrats!

Your period normally comes about 2 weeks after ovulation. So it makes sense that you see 2-3 weeks on the test if you test around the date of your expected period. The doctor or midwife will then say you're 4-5 weeks pregnant, because they count from the last menstrual period and add 2 weeks.

You could also have ovulated earlier or already been pregnant for a bit longer, like Trees said. You can definitely get a positive result with an early test, and they're fairly reliable too. But if you had a cycle of 23 to 28 days and tested a week ago, you'd probably already clearly see that you're pregnant because you'd be close to your period date. Go see your GP and find out exactly how far along you are.

Thanks for the sweet comments! Tomorrow we have an appointment with the doctor. We gave ourselves some time to get used to the idea. My boyfriend especially needed a few days. The first few days he was mostly pale, quiet, and scared! He really is the quiet, worried type. But now he's starting to talk about it and is genuinely happy. And we're discussing everything we're worried about. After all, this is my first pregnancy too.

By now, morning sickness has also made it onto the list.

I had to inform my work early on; my boss knows me well enough to know something was up. She probably already knew before we did! Fortunately, I can talk a lot with her and get so much support! Especially now that I don't want to tell my family yet. It's still too early for that.

If everything goes well, they'll get a big surprise on Father's Day!! The best part is that the family is already expanding. No one expects us to follow up so soon. It was hard not to say anything at their party.

But that was their moment; our moment will come once I know everything is going well at the first ultrasound.

It's weird how you can feel so much so early... At the party, his grandma said that if you're nauseous early on, it's a boy. She was wrong for once! ?
