The baby is only 6 weeks instead of 8.

Does anyone here have experience with this?
This week we had our first ultrasound check at 8 weeks.
Based on the blood tests early on, we were sure I should be 8 weeks pregnant now, but the ultrasound showed the baby was only 6 weeks. However, a slowly beating heart was visible.
Can this still turn out okay, or should we already give up hope? The doctor already said he doesn't see it going well and fears a miscarriage, but maybe something good will happen and the baby will catch up the 2 lost weeks.
I have to go back next Friday. This is going to be such a long week, pff.

I really wish I could tell you that everything will be okay, but it could go either way. As long as the heartbeat is there, you can hold on to hope, and beyond that, unfortunately, you can only wait. Wishing you lots of strength to get through this week.

    Thanks girls

It's the waiting that's so frustrating and that uncertainty, ugh pff
I'll definitely keep you updated on how things go
The tricky part is that you still have those pregnancy symptoms, which makes you keep hoping that everything will be okay in the end

In week 6, the heart and blood vessels develop. It's possible you had a poor ultrasound (external), making it hard to see clearly. Or your little one might catch up a bit later with their growth spurt.
With my first, I had the same thing—it was very small, so they adjusted the 8-week scan back to 6 weeks. Around week 12, I had another ultrasound, and they said I was 1 week further along.
All they do is measure with the ultrasound (trying to measure from line to line). So just wait and see, and you'll realize everything will be fine.

Lisa96 it was an internal ultrasound but indeed, as long as I don't see any blood, there's hope and maybe it's already a little fighter and everything will be okay
I'm glad I can go back for a new ultrasound next week
