Advice, scared of doing something wrong..

My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years. We've tried everything until I started thinking I just couldn't do it (my partner already has a child). Earlier this year, my partner quit smoking and I went from vegetarian to vegan, and last Friday my test was positive???? I took another test on Monday and it was positive too. But now my question is whether it could be harmful to the baby if I just go back to being vegetarian. Because I don't know if it's because of my diet that it worked out.. Also because I don't know if I'm getting enough nutrients myself. I'm really scared of doing something wrong.

Vegetarian or even just nice meatballs seem totally fine to me. That way, I think you'll get more nutrients and building blocks. But for your peace of mind, I'd start looking for a midwife and get in touch with them!

Good luck, hopefully everything will continue to go well!

First of all, congratulations What a relief after 3 exhausting years.
To answer your question, as long as you get all the vitamins you need, it shouldn't be harmful. I'm not a doctor, of course, but you could also contact your GP. Don't worry too much, it really won't go wrong if you suddenly eat something different, as long as you eat healthily and don't start dieting!

Thank you so much! That puts my mind at ease, haha!
I'll call a midwife tomorrow, since I'm probably in my 6th week.

Meat is rich in B12, which your body uses up a lot of during pregnancy. Many people who don’t eat meat have a deficiency, so get it checked with a blood test—this isn’t usually part of standard checks. If your B12 levels are low, taking folic acid (often recommended before and during pregnancy) can actually be harmful.

You could optionally get advice from a dietitian on how to still get enough vitamins and nutrients, etc., for a pregnancy with your lifestyle.
