Direct. I think I was 4.5 weeks pregnant. Both to my superiors and my own staff.
Because I was immediately feeling very nauseous and I had no desire to come up with excuses for why I wouldn't be coming to work for a few weeks.
I was also newly married, so they would probably make the connection themselves, I guess

I told them when I was 12 weeks

When I was 14 weeks, I thought it was something for me and my partner. Then something you share with your family and best friends, and only once in a while with your work . I wouldn't want my workplace to actively "know" that I'm trying to conceive.
If you're sick, that's a different story. I was actually sick too, but I just pushed through it .

When a colleague started worrying about me because I looked like a mess, I told her. That was at 6 weeks. The rest of the team and my boss found out at 9 weeks, after I’d had my first ultrasound.

Ivm. I signed a permanent contract and for more hours per week before I found out, I quickly told my supervisor, didn't want any funny looks. And one colleague with 6 or 7 weeks and the rest with 8, it was the perfect moment for it, genius! We also told the family at 8 weeks.
Do what feels right for you!

My employer was even angry because I hadn't told them that we're trying...

Stff48, that's too bad for your boss, but it's none of his business what you do in your private life.
  8. stff48 #9

Yeah, I thought so too... but she obviously thought differently... it really hurt me xx

I told them around 6-7 weeks because I work with chemicals and other dangerous things. I would have preferred to tell them later, since things could still go wrong at that stage. And I would have liked to let my family know first. Many people wait until around 12 weeks, but you should do what feels right for you.

I told them around 9 weeks, before the first ultrasound. I work in the safety sector, out on the streets, and when you're pregnant, you're basically required to do office work for safety reasons—yours, the baby's, and your colleagues'. But do what feels right. If there are no risks at work, I'd personally have waited until the 12-week scan.

I think I'll tell them after the first ultrasound, when I'll be about 9 weeks. I work in healthcare and the department can be pretty intense sometimes, so it's better to just let them know. I've noticed that I get tired at the end of a shift, which I normally never do. So maybe they'll already start thinking something's off.

Missie, don't feel guilty about it, okay. Being pregnant is something beautiful. Most employers aren't always thrilled about the good news. Mine wasn't either, and it's still a struggle, unfortunately. But do what feels right for you, and share when you want to. Your job in healthcare can be incredibly demanding, so make sure to rest in time!

No, I really shouldn't feel guilty... I'm moving to another department in September where I just started, which is a bit of a bummer since I'll start maternity leave in November. I have an introductory meeting at the end of this month and will let them know right away. There's no other way around it. And I'm definitely planning to enjoy it!! If I could feel like I do now for my whole pregnancy, that would be great haha.

With the first one, we told work around 12 weeks.
I was working in a supermarket, but in the butcher/deli/bakery section where I often had to lift heavy crates etc.

Right now, by my own calculation, I'm 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and we have the first ultrasound in 3 weeks.
After that, we'll tell the family and I'll also tell work.
I work in cleaning at a holiday park.
Maybe I can take it a bit easier then!

Congratulations! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago using medication.
  16. Tooby #17

DJB, don't forget the cleaning products you use (on top of the workload, indeed)!
    Congratulations.

And what a heavy situation, Meissie Strength to you.
  17. DJB #18

    Strength to Meissie!

And Tooby, indeed. That's of course the biggest reason why I'm going to tell him right away.

I’ve been confirmed pregnant via a blood test at 4-5 weeks. I’ll tell them at work right away, but I can’t hide it anyway because I’m feeling so nauseous.

    Missie, what a bummer strength
I told him at 14 weeks.
