What kind of pregnancy courses

Hi moms,
This is my first pregnancy and I'm looking into what kind of course my partner and I should take to prepare for childbirth. What did you do? Or have done? What were some nice experiences?

I haven't signed up for a course yet, but my midwife recommended a 'birthing together' course. If you Google it, you'll find it!

Hey Saar, I've also looked into that, but I still haven't figured it out.

I went to prenatal yoga. At first, I found it a bit woo-woo, but you learn to relax well and focus on your breathing. It also covered posture and concentration during pregnancy and childbirth. In the end, I found it a nice, relaxing hour every week. Just to slow down.

I only went to a breastfeeding course; I didn’t really feel the need for a mom’s group or chat circle. (I probably have the wrong idea about them anyway.) I already knew how to “puff” from my mom and colleagues .
Labor went well for me. Baby swimming had sounded nice, but once the little one was here, I just didn’t get around to it.

I mostly feel like it's useless for the big moment. At that point, you're not thinking about what you've learned. Your body just does it.

I have to say I'm also too laid-back for that stuff. When we had our first, they asked if I wanted brochures for such courses. No thanks, I'm not one of those "Skippy Ball" moms.

You really have enough with yourself and the midwife's experience. No birth and no woman is the same.

Hahahahaha skipper mom funny to read, which words you use.
Nice to read that not everyone takes a course. It's a natural process and people have been giving birth for centuries.
And did your partners help you well?

My partner was there watching. With the first one, he was literally right next to me and helped with something, I think.
With the second one, he was sitting on a chair next to the bed waiting for the pushing contractions to start. They started so abruptly and she came so fast that he almost missed the moment.

With the third one, he was allowed to stay comfortably seated. I heard the midwife tell him during the pushing contractions to make a cold washcloth.
So I yelled very nosily. Oh no, that's not necessary. And then she was already there.
I'm lucky that I think I give birth quite easily. The first one took the longest. He was here within fifteen minutes from the first pushing contraction. With the last one, I only had one long pushing contraction and she was here within two minutes.

My husband was present in the room but was told not to touch me while I was lying there. I’d rather have given birth on my own, except for a little support when getting up to go under the shower—he didn’t have to do much from me.

I only did pregnancy yoga with my oldest. It was nice, but my labor ended up being totally different from what they said it usually is for first-time moms. He came so fast, hihi. With the second one, I did nothing, and now with the third, I think I'll do nothing too. But meeting other pregnant women was nice again.

I did pregnancy fitness. Basically a kind of prenatal exercise class. I just liked being able to stay a bit sporty with good guidance. I also liked being able to ask questions. And to exchange experiences with others. Especially for the first time, I found it really nice to hear that others experienced the same things or completely different ones.
