HCG levels have risen, but not doubled.

Hi!
Last Monday I went to the doctor for a blood test after a positive home test.
At that time my hCG was 35, still very early on, so. Normally then 4 weeks along.
Today, Tuesday (so a full week later) I went back to get my blood drawn and I have an hCG of 62...
Since my first blood test I also found out that I contracted CMV before conception.
What should I think now? The gynecologist is off all week...

Has anyone else said anything about it, like whether it matches 5 weeks pregnant? In my opinion, it's rising too slowly.

How strange. I tested at 4 weeks and 1 day and had an hCG level of 29. Then my midwife already told me it was too early and I needed to test again. If it rose properly, I’d be pregnant; otherwise, it would be a miscarriage. Three days later, it was 129.

Your midwife should tell you what’s going on. It’s possible that your hCG is rising too slowly but it’ll still work out, or it might turn out to be a miscarriage. I wish you lots of success.

I’d give my midwife a quick call and ask for info. He/she shouldn’t leave you living in uncertainty.

It seems too slow to rise to me too, girl. I hope it works out for you after all!!

    Hi,
I spoke to the doctor on the phone tonight, and he said it's over and that I'll probably have a bleed...

Oh, that's so sad At least now you have certainty and can go for it in the next round. Wishing you lots of strength and success.

Sophie, that's exactly what I was afraid of, since your hCG barely rises at all. Sending lots of strength!

I went to the GP on Monday 15/2 for a blood test. My hcg levels were 160 at 4 weeks and 1 day.
I had to go back today because he thought it was low. Now, after 3 days, it's 269. The doctor says it's good that there's an increase, but not a super increase.
Now I'm naturally a bit worried. Anyone have experience with this?

@FJB 4 weeks and 1 day is normally the time when you can test with a regular test, and 160 hCG seems like a great value to me

I went through a similar situation myself. This was last November. I was 4 weeks pregnant, got terrible cramps, and was scared of an ectopic pregnancy. Given my history (3 miscarriages), my partner didn't want to take any risks, so I was sent to the emergency department and the on-call OB-GYN.

They took a blood test and my hCG was at 450. That wasn't too low, but it was on the lower side, and naturally, nothing was visible yet. 48 hours later, I went back to the hospital to have another blood test. The hCG went up, but not enough. After another 48 hours, it rose again, but still not sufficiently. They did suspect an ectopic pregnancy because the hCG was rising but not doubling. Eventually, they saw a gestational sac (luckily in the uterus and not outside). Less than two days later, I had my 4th miscarriage.

Everyone reacts differently to hCG! So it's very possible that you're just catching up. I'm curious and wish you strength! Don't give up and listen to your own instincts!

Hi, I had my blood drawn on Wednesday at 5 weeks and 4 days, and it was 239. Now, 2 days later at 5 weeks and 6 days, it hasn't doubled. It's only risen slightly to 315.

I'm so scared that I'll have a miscarriage for the third time.

    Has anyone experienced this?
