Pregnant again after giving birth at 22 weeks

Hi! I’m 5 weeks pregnant now. I gave birth 2.5 months ago at 22 weeks, and unfortunately, they couldn’t find out why that happened. Now I’m 7 weeks later, so I’m pregnant again. It happened really quickly, and it’s such a mixed feeling, but I’m really happy. Of course, it’s super exciting and scary to go through another pregnancy, but I’m under strict monitoring by my OB-GYN now. Are there more people who’ve been through this and also found it really scary?

    Hey Anoniem,
I wish you lots of strength with the loss of your little girl, but at the same time I also want to congratulate you on your new pregnancy... try to enjoy it, girl. It will be okay... in about 8 months you'll have a cloud of a baby in your arms

Hi Stef, thanks for your kind response.
I'm indeed trying to enjoy it and let it wash over me. Hopefully everything goes better this time.

I can totally understand why you find it scary. Try breaking it down into smaller steps: first the 10-week scan, then the 12-week milestone, the 20-week scan, and then getting past the 22-week mark. After that, it depends on how you're feeling whether you need to break it down further. That helped me because nine months feels so long, especially when you've already had a bad experience. By focusing on small milestones, I could enjoy the process and it felt manageable.

Yes, that's definitely a good tip, Anoniem. I'm going to do that too because 9 months does sound really long. Thanks!

I gave birth in April after 24 weeks of pregnancy. We had to choose to terminate the pregnancy due to a serious abnormality.
Now I'm 21 weeks pregnant and exactly 2 weeks earlier than I would have been last time.

From the moment I knew I was pregnant again, I felt both joy and fear. For the first 12 weeks, there was fear of miscarriage, and then fear of the 20-week ultrasound.
I found it so hard to deal with that I kind of "switched off." I just didn't dare to be happy or give in to it.
Two weeks ago we had the 20-week ultrasound and it was terrifying, but now that we have confirmation that everything is okay, I finally dare to enjoy it.

Despite everything, time has passed quickly until now, so I hope it can be the same for you.
Congratulations and I hope you can start enjoying it once you're past the 22 weeks. Good luck!

    Love, Leetje

Hi Leentje, what a terrible thing to hear that you had to end your pregnancy, but it's so nice that you're pregnant again and have received good news! I wish you lots of success and luck with this pregnancy.
I also hope, indeed, that I'll get through the upcoming milestones well. It's all so double-edged, but I'm trying to stay positive. And that once I've passed the 22-week mark, I'll feel a bit more at ease.

First of all, I want to wish you both lots of strength, and congratulations ladies!! It's so nice that you've ended up with a baby after such a big loss
I also had to terminate my pregnancy at 18 weeks due to abnormalities, and it's been a month now. I think I might be pregnant again. In 6/7 days I'll have my period, but I clearly felt my egg and it stuck, and now with my discharge and stinging in my belly/chest, I think it might be a hit again. Same symptoms as last pregnancy.

I'm dealing with the same fear, scared it'll go wrong again but first, let's wait and see if I'm really pregnant!

Hi BB, that's absolutely awful for you too that you had to end your pregnancy, I completely understand how you feel and your fear!
I noticed from my discharge that I might be pregnant again, and I was 5 days late before I got a positive pregnancy test, and by then I was already almost 5 weeks along. And I was really tired, still am now, sometimes it feels like I'm dealing with double the hormones and exhaustion.
I hope you get some good news in a few days and of course I'm rooting for you that everything goes well! Wishing you lots of strength and success xx
